Need fathers day gift ideas

Does he have power tools? I currently love Ryobi's cordless options. Not just what goes in the workshop... but also the cordless fans, lights, lawn mowers and blowers that makes my life easier.

DH loves his Ryobi stuff.

My husband is getting a shaving kit with brush from The Art of Shaving, a Yeti Michigan State Spartan 20 oz. tumbler, and 2 items from Godiva as they are his favorite chocolates.

I'm at a loss as to what to get for my dad and my FIL. Both are in their mid 60's and don't really collect anything or have any particular hobbies. I usually end up getting Lowes giftcards, which is so impersonal.

DH and I don't have any kids, but we do have pets that are our babies. I usually get him a little something from the pets. Probably will end up getting the same thing as last year - a pack of cigars for him to take to the beach at the end of the month. DH doesn't smoke regularly, but loves to have a few cigars when we are on vacation.

I'm not a father, but a few years ago I bought myself a "#1 Dad" t-shirt for about 2 bucks on clearance at Walmart a week after Father's Day.

I have a Dad bod, and I tell awful Dad jokes, so I figure I'm entitled to wear it. :D

Not Ryobi.... but I love the Worx cordless pressure cleaner. Just released last month!

Only complaint is the 20 foot feeder hose.... after 5 weeks, the hose still smells.

I have been debating on picking up a cordless mower. Generally speaking how much run time are you getting out of the battery? Takes me about 1 1/2 hour to cut my side and front yard (about 8000 sf)

I am a pretty practical guy and do not like to get gifts myself. That being said I would love it if my DW had someone come in and complete a project or something I hate to do. Like maybe a yard service for a couple weeks or month. Or maybe pressure wash the house, though as someone posted above why guy does not like using a pressure washer :tilt:

I'm at a loss of what to buy DH for fathers day. It was just his birthday and he doesn't need anything. I bought baseball tickets already, but need some other smaller things to go with it. He doesn't golf or collect anything, no specific hobbies. What has everyone else bought this year? Thanks for any ideas!

OP: If you got baseball tickets, have you considered making a baseball themed gift basket? One year we did that for my father-in-law. Turned a team baseball hat upside down to use as the bowl or base of the "basket." Added a team frame to put the picture of my hubby & his dad at the game. Included snacks associated with baseball: popcorn, peanuts, cracker jack, big league chew gum, etc. Also had a team baseball pennant, sticker, t-shirt. Arranged it neatly & wrapped it all in cellophane. He loved the gift & is usually quite difficult to buy for. (Hate ending a sentence with a prepositional phrase but... this is not a formal paper lol)

Thoughts...
  • my experience is limited to one mower and the battery is very new. I strongly encourage you to check out YouTube videos for reviews of others.
  • My neighbor bought a different brand's battery powered mower 3 years ago, no complaints 3 years later. She inspired me to research and get a cordless mower to save time.
  • my old corded mower still works, but with water restrictions.... I wanted a new mower that can cut grass taller in the summer.
  • 1.5 hours to mow your lawn? Is that with a cord or a gas mower? How wide is your current mower cutting? To clarify, it used to take me about 40 minutes to mow front and back with a cord. I think I have lowered that to 20 minutes (or less) as I no longer have to waste time flipping that stupid cord. I even have time to run the mower over the lawn additional times for a lower cut. Yah.... with the excess battery life, I do part of my neighbours lawn.
  • doing the math.... I estimate my lawn is 2000 sf. So much smaller than your 8000. You might need two or more batteries. I recommend trying to mow with one battery and then getting additional batteries once you get an idea of what your battery life is.
  • Mowing/Battery time varies with how thick your lawn is.
  • Ryobi offers 18v and several 40v mowers. I went with the 40v for more power and the premium brushless model for insurance.
  • The 40v drains much quicker on a leaf blower than on the mower.
  • the Ryobi battery mower is so quiet compared to the corded and gas mower. The leaf blower and string trimmer is much louder.
  • The same 40v battery also works with my hedge trimmer and leaf blower. I don't need one.... but the 40v battery also works with a snow blower.

I really don't want any gifts for Father's Day. A phone call or even a text will suffice. Maybe a funny card.

If my kids insist, a gift card for Lowe's or Home Depot will be great, along with a World's Best Dad cap or T-shirt.

I've ordered my dad (in NJ) ice cream through goldbely.com -- from the Comfy Cow in Louisville -- some great flavors. There's also some great food type gifts. My parents have gotten to the point that they don't need or want anything, and I've found they're not really using the gift cards I've sent in the past. So food it is. He'll definitely eat the ice cream!

DH, I'm not sure. Thinking an RFID wallet, but he'd also like a Dopp kit ("But I want to pick it out" - DH). Was also thinking of a drone -- he's retired and should have fun with it.

My Dad's Birthday was yesterday (He turned 80) So, we normally combine Birthday and Father's Day. In the past I would get him Amazon gift cards too as he has a Kindle he likes buying books for. This year I got him the Amazon Echo. I have one and he seems to like being able to listen to any music he wants. So, he can listen to his 50's music and old time country plus he can do lots of other things with it (that my kids will have to teach him). I am just going to put him under my Amazon account as I have prime so he gets the Prime Music for free.

This is a great idea! My parents LOVE their Echo, as do we! Now there's a way to message and call through Alexa. They use it for calendar appointments, etc. as well.

I just remembered! For Christmas, I got my dad a big glass jar with an airtight seal and ordered a decal from Etsy that said, "Grandpa's Stache" and had a mustache under it (my dad also wears a mustache). I put the decal on the jar and bought a bunch of nuts, granola, dried fruit and filled it. Sometime in February he called me and said, "I'm out of Grandpa food." lol Totally forgot about that, but I think I'll go get some more and give that to him for Father's Day.

Right now I am using a gas push mower 22" cut. It is one of those Toro mowers that speeds up or slows down to match your pace. It is starting to act up more and more. The carburetor probably needs to be rebuilt. Just tired of messing with gas and oil
