Need Fantasy Stateroom advice

We are looking to book a 7 night cruise on the Fantasy for spring break next year. We have cruised twice before - both 3 night cruises on the Dream. We stayed concierge level for both of those. Since we are going at a peak time, concierge is a bit out of our budget for this trip. We would still like to do a deluxe oceanview stateroom with verandah (or deluxe family oceanview room with verandah). There will be 4 of us in the room (2 adults, 16 year old, 4 year old). Our past cruises have been forward, deck 12, on the Dream. I do get motion sickness but did not have any issues on our past cruises.

So, I'm trying to decide between a 4E room on Deck 5, forward, with extended verandah or a 5A room on Deck 8 or 9 with a regular size verandah - could be aft, mid-ship or forward. I was initially thinking of an extended verandah, aft, but I am concerned about the reports of vibration. Prolonged vibration, even if not very strong, is something that will definitely make me ill. I have read mostly good things about the extended verandahs, except for the lack of privacy.

Are there any advantages to one or the other? The prices are within a few hundred dollars of each other, so I'm fine with either one. I was initially thinking a forward, higher deck, since that is where we have cruised in the past with no issues, but I do like the idea of an extended verandah.

We've been in 8184 (5A) on the Dream and will be in 7688 (5A) on the Fantasy in a few weeks. I'll let you know how it is. If it's anything like 8184, it will be fantastic. I love the wrap balconies...

We were in a 4e this past January on the Fantasy (room 5650) LOVED the extra large verandah. It was at the end of a dead end hallway so we only had neighbours on one side of us. Loved the location of the room, would absolutely book this room/room category again.

My wife sometimes gets motion sickness and we've sailed twice on the Fantasy in category 5E rooms. They were extended verandahs and it was like having two rooms in one. Lot's of space out there and the view off the very back of the ship is amazing! My father in-law even spent the night out there sleeping under the stars. Pulling in and out of ports, especially Castaway Cay, was a real treat. My wife didn't get sick once but pulling in and out of ports you'll feel the vibrations. Never lasted long and was usually early am but easy to be up and about at that time. Have a great trip! :yay:

You can always book a room now and see how the reports are after dry dock ends in May of this year to see if the vibration issues are fixed or not.

I trust you know Cat 4e cabins are 203 sqft internally, similar to most other standard verandas aboard.
Like all cat 5's.

The Cat 4e's do have larger verandas. But they are a standard cabin size internally.
None sleep 5. No room/space for a fifth bunk..
Cat 4e cabins are not "family" verandas.

Most deck plans are wrong.
Many travel agents spew this lie.
This error in cabin description extends the continents.
Why, I have no idea. It's DCL. They won't fix their error.

Cat 4a - d are the larger "family" verandas, which have 256 sqft internally.
Some of the cat 4 a-d's sleep 5. Some sleep 4.

See this most awesome thread for beds /sleeping config. regarding the Cat 4a - d's ;
