We are looking to book a 7 night cruise on the Fantasy for spring break next year. We have cruised twice before - both 3 night cruises on the Dream. We stayed concierge level for both of those. Since we are going at a peak time, concierge is a bit out of our budget for this trip. We would still like to do a deluxe oceanview stateroom with verandah (or deluxe family oceanview room with verandah). There will be 4 of us in the room (2 adults, 16 year old, 4 year old). Our past cruises have been forward, deck 12, on the Dream. I do get motion sickness but did not have any issues on our past cruises.
So, I'm trying to decide between a 4E room on Deck 5, forward, with extended verandah or a 5A room on Deck 8 or 9 with a regular size verandah - could be aft, mid-ship or forward. I was initially thinking of an extended verandah, aft, but I am concerned about the reports of vibration. Prolonged vibration, even if not very strong, is something that will definitely make me ill. I have read mostly good things about the extended verandahs, except for the lack of privacy.
Are there any advantages to one or the other? The prices are within a few hundred dollars of each other, so I'm fine with either one. I was initially thinking a forward, higher deck, since that is where we have cruised in the past with no issues, but I do like the idea of an extended verandah.
