We are going to the campgrounds for the 1st time at the end of July and had a couple of odd/general questions.

1. I was wondering if anyone knew if you can see the MK fireworks from the Beach?

2. How long of a walk is it from the cabins to the Wilderness Lodge?

3. From the Cabins, can you drive the carts to the Wilderness Lodge?, if not, is there a place you can drive them to part of the way and leave them and then walk the rest of the way to Wilderness Lodge?

4. What is the closest major grocery store from the campgorounds?

Thanks for any help!!!

1. Yes you can see the fireworks from the beach, they evn play the music from the loudspeakers. And when its over you can watch the floating light parade. 2. It depends what loop your cabin is in..... could be a 5 minuite to 1/2 hour walk. 3. You cant take the carts all the way to the lodge but from where you park them there is a 2 minute shuttle bus. 4. The clossest grocery store is is righht outside downtown disney with prices that reflect that. We shop at the super wallmart on rt192 about 4 miles away...TAZ

1. Yes, you can see the fireworks from the beach - we love to watch them from there! You can also (usually) hear music too as they have speakers on the beach.:cool1:

2. It would be quite a hike to walk from the cabins to WL. There is, however, a bus that goes from the Trail's End area of FW to the WL.

3. I am not certain, but I have heard you can drive a golf cart to WL - I think there is a cart/walking path. If not, you can definitely ride a cart to the Trail's End area and catch the bus to WL.

4. There are several nearby, we've been to both a nearby Publix and Walmart. Now, don't ask me directions - my husband was driving and I wasn't paying attention.:confused3

Happy Camping!

Yes, fireworks from beach.

The walk (if you wanted to walk it) would depend on where you are. But for me, walking an average pace, the walk from the parking lot to the Wilderness Lodge (i.e. - through the campground, past the Meadows, and then onto the path to the WL and to the WL) takes about 40 minutes. I have the walks here, in parts 1 and 2: http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=22&Itemid=47

I don't think you are allowed to take the golf carts on the path. It is about a mile walk from the parking lot to the Settlement, and about a mile from there to the WL. Both very nice walks. I also llike to veer off onto the beach.

There is a Publix in the LBV area, that is my favorite grocery store. There is also a Winn Dixie. Stay away from Goodings. Garden Grocer is very popular for ordering (for delivery). The Publix is across from a mall that has a Disney owned outlet store for park merchandise.

We were just there Memorial Day week and watched the fireworks and the electric light pageant from the beach. We could hear the pageant music but not the music for the fireworks.

FW does not have speakers on the beach for the fireworks. If it's a quiet night, and the wind is blowing that direction, you can hear the music from the MK. But, you can definitely hear the music from the boats during the Electrical Water Pageant! :goodvibes

If there is the fireworks wagon ride available, they do pipe the music from there (the last times I've gone, anyway!) A truck is brought in with a sound system to the beach.

I would suggest stopping at a local store on your way in (Publix is also my favorite) as to go back out can be quite a drive. If necessary stop again if you make any side trips off Disney property. There are many other stores in the local area including Winn Dixie and Goodings (a bit high in prices). The closest Publix I have found (the one nbodyhome is talking about) is Publix Regency Village Shopping Center.

Driving Directions:

*Exit the Disney complex on Hotel Plaza Blvd (Lake Buena Vista) to 535, turning right on 535.
*Drive under I-4, turning left at the first light after you cross under I-4. This should be Vineland Ave.
*Continue on Vineland Ave, pass the outlet stores (nice center) and follow the signs to Publix.

This is about 5 minutes further than Goodings, but you save a bunch!

That is a great Publix. They have both a terrific deli and bakery, as all Publix's do. Across the street is the Orlando Premium Outlet mall, which has the Character Premiere (Disney outlet store) as well.

What are the days and the time for the campfire?

The campfire/movie program is every night (weather permitting) and the time changes seasonally to make sure the move starts after dark. You will be given a schedule for the movies on check in, or check the top of this forum at the beginning of each month for that months movie schedule.

I stand corrected! I've just been informed that there is a sound system at the marina building for the MK fireworks music. Engeneering was recently working on it. If you are there and don't hear the music call the front desk to have it repaired but don't be suprised if the cast member says there is no such thing. I've been told that not very many cast members know about that sound system. (And, obviously, not many guests know either! LOL)

Now, I can't wait to go down to the marina again for the fireworks to listen for it! :woohoo:

Thank goodness, we were just there over Memorial Day weekend and I knew we listened to the Wishes music! I thought maybe I was imagining things. It wouldn't be impossible - I think I'm going prematurely senile - it must be all those teenagers I have to deal with! :lmao: Thank Heavens for summer!:thumbsup2

Same here, the fireworks were visible from the beach but there was no music in early June.

BTW, I would only recommend watching the fireworks from FW if you've already seen Wishes in person at the MK, or if you're planning to see it there another night. The view from FW is only the high-level pyro. Views of the low level pryo are blocked (by trees, I think); you can see enough of it to know you're missing it. Also, viewing from FW puts you at an awkward angle for the show. To get the full effect, you really need to be viewing straight-on towards the castle. It is a great show, and worth seeing live and in person! :goodvibes

...who loves a good Disney fireworks show...

There are some areas of FW that have better views than others.

And again, if you take the FW fireworks wagon ride, they've always piped in the music when I've gone.

Yes you can see them but it is not as good as being there.. Make sure to check out the electric water parade at the beach, it is amazing.

2. How long of a walk is it from the cabins to the Wilderness Lodge?

You can do it in about 15 minutes, it is a nice walk, very peaceful.

3. From the Cabins, can you drive the carts to the Wilderness Lodge?, if not, is there a place you can drive them to part of the way and leave them and then walk the rest of the way to Wilderness Lodge?

I have never seen carts driving there, but you can park them at the beach and walk there from the beach.

4. What is the closest major grocery store from the campgorounds?

Well we went to the one in Kisimee, just because it was the easiest to get to.
