For various reasons I have gained quite a bit of weight (probably 25lbs i'm afraid to get on the scales :guilty: ) in the past year. I wasn't been able to work out due to a foot injury and working long hours. Needless to say, now I am really mad at myself for gaining so much.

I am re-joining WW and need the extra encouragement to stick with it. What better way than on DIS :D

How do you keep the momentum going in the weeks you don't lose or slip? I seem to always get frustrated and give up. Help!

You're in a special group of folks that life just hits and we deal with it and choose more wisely when we can! So smile and get ready for a new confident, strong, and supported you! :)

Yep, I, too just had a rough year...lost 55 pounds...was training for the marathon...first of last year got a shoulder injury that took 2 months to heal...husband transferred out of state in March (we've been trying to sell our house since then and kids have had to live without Daddy that long- he comes home on weekends.) but without him here I can't do my 20 mile a week walks (4 miles 5x)...I homeschool and have noone to watch the kids to exercise....my back went out in September took 8 weeks to be able to get up and at em again. Yesterday my dog was attacked and now I'm having to sue my neighbor who renigged on paying the bill that his dog caused. So LIFE can get in the way! But Jan. 20th I vowed to start anew...I just do one week of low-carb...can't stay disciplined for more than 7 days and need carbs when I add my walks back in...walking 8 miles (on weekends when dh is home) is better than walking none and I can change my eating habits by joining some challenges (giving up french fries and white bread products for 100 days....joined the Valentine's challenge)

The point is..you just have to make that decision to try again. I'm here with you I broke down and weighed and realized I had gained 20 pounds last year! I've lost 5.5 in 5 days and feel stronger even with all the drama with my dog. I'll be your buddy if you want someone to share with...start a journal and just know that you're not ALONE!!! So many of us are right there with you and although I may be 5 days ahead of you on starting it, mentally I share your doubts...but envisioning 4th of July 40 pounds lighter is a great visual!!! :)

You can do it, sweetie!!!

SC Minnie-On the days/weeks you feel discouraged, just remember it took some time to put on weight and it will take time to get it off. I need to lose 70 pounds and it is sooo daunting, but I keep envisioning myslelf with my shirt tucked in and I'm trying to get there! If you have a bad day-forgive yourself. You WILL do this!!

I am right there with you. I lost approx. 50 pounds and have put those plus a few extra's back on. I had lost that when I signed up for the marathon a year ago and then got out of the exercise routine, stopped watching what I was eating, etc. I didn't have a medical reason, just purely my own doing of not taking the time for myself to exercise.

I am getting back on track too. I am back to counting my points (not going to meetings, but I have my books and Dottie's website so I'm fine with that). I am getting more water in, more veggies and back on the treadmill.

You can do this, you have started by making the decision to come to the board. This is the place and folks that helped encourage and inspire me to lose my weight the first time. I did learn the hard lesson of it is a lifestyle adjustment. I knew those words, but now I'm really living them. I don't want to have to take this weight off again, so I am in this for the long haul. We can all work on things together. We might all have different goals, but we all have one in common and that is to get ourselves to a healthier place in life.

We are here to cheer each other on, we can all do this!!!

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! :goodvibes The best advice someone gave to me was to find success in every day - whether it is being 100% OP, drinking all your water, eating your 5 fruits/veggies, exercising, losing inches, clothes fitting better, or stopping a binge before you eat the fridge - whatever you did today, you were successful at something - write that down, and don't go to bed thinking you failed. Every day is a new chance to stick with the program. Also, reward yourself for smaller successes - choose to give yourself a gold star on the calendar for every day you exercised, or $1 in the shopping spree bank for every day you got all your veggies in - the rewards don't have to be weight based. You control what you eat and how much you move - losing weight is really up to your body. Finding success away from the scale often kept me from getting discouraged on those maintain or gain weeks. You are so worth the effort - you can do this!!!! :grouphug:

Hi, Minnie! Just wanted to check in with you and see how you are doing. How did yesterday go? What was the best thing you did for yourself? What was the best choice you made? What did you do yesterday that you will try NOT to do today? Those are the questions I ask myself every morning. I hope you will find them helpful.
Have a great day!

Thanks everyone!

I have walked a mile on the treadmill and did lunges and weight for the past 2 nights. Its a start. Last night I got home for work about 6 and DH and DD were asking 'whats or dinner?'. I told them I didn't know but I was going to exercise first.

Thanks again, I need the push.

Hey, Minnie -- great for you that you are exercising and that you didn't give up your exercise time to cook first! You might not have been so motivated on a full tummy! Keep up the great work! :cheer2:

BTW, for what it is worth -- I walked in the door, got dinner in the oven for my family, and let it cook while I exercised. That way, they were satisfied that there would soon be food, and I was satisfied that I was taking care of them AND me! ;)

Thanks-

I resisted the urge to have a mid morning vending machine snack and had a banana instead. :cool1:

I have a business dinner tonight so no exercise. I'll just have to be careful of what I order.
