I am taking dinner to a family from church every Wed. this month. Last week I took potato soup and salad. Since then, they have had chicken and dumplings (Twice) and chicken and potatoes with rolls. SO, I am thinking my idea of Chicken Pot Pie isn't a good idea this week. :rotfl:

Anyone have any meal ideas that don't include chicken and potatoes/bread?

They don't do fish or seafood at all, or anything spicy!

I need whatever I take to make the 30 minutes trip over there, portable is key here.

They are getting meals 3 days a week and the other nights they are doing pizza, take out type stuff, so want something homemade.

OH yeah, and not too pricey would be nice as well.

How about baked, stuffed pork chops, spaghetti and meat sauce, lasagna with the pre cooked noodles if ricotta cheese and mozarella are on sale. Baked ziti.

Baked Ziti is super easy and a good idea. Thanks! I was thinking about Lasagna, but the work is too much.

How about Glop?? It's what I call it, but you can make up a fancier word to make it sound better if you like............

Brown a pound of hamburger
cook an 8oz. box of elbow macaroni
cup or so of shredded cheddar cheese
Can of beans (I like Bush's)

Mix all together and bake covered about 30 minutes on 350 to get everything mushed together. You could even take it to them already together in the dish and have them cook it when they are ready to eat...........

NOw that sounds interesting and I am going to make it for us and see how we like it. I need 4 more week of ideas. Keep them coming!

OH, are you using Bush's baked beans?? Not just beans?

And what sized pan?

Ceasar salad with grilled chicken or steak.

Ribs with mashed potatoes and beans

Baked ham, potatoes and green beans

meatloaf with roasted potatoes and peas, all in one baking dish

beef stew with bisquits

pot of chilli with rice or cornbread

thinking of more. :)

Chili and corn muffins.

Meatloaf and mashed taters.

Sloppy Joes and tater tots.

I'd do something Italian - lasagna, baked ziti, spaghetti and meatballs etc. Add a salad and maybe some bread/rolls. If you do rolls they could always do meatball subs for another meal.

My DH's favorite - "Beef and Bean Pie"

1 lb hamburger
1 cup salsa
1 can chili
1 can bean w/bacon soup
I can kidney, pinto or black beans
1 sm can sliced black olives
1 cup cheddar/jack cheeses
premade Pillsbury pie crust for 2 crust pie

Brown the hamburger and drain. Combine hamburger with salsa, chili, soup, beans, olives and cheese.

Place 1 pie crust in bottom of pie pan and add the hamburger mixture to the pie pan. Top with remaining pie crust and seal. Cut vent holes in top crust and bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes.

Tacos or Beef Nachos

Pasta Primavera or Spaghetti

Shepherds Pie

BBQ Beef Sandwiches

Sweet and Sour Chicken

Southwest Chicken Skillet

Chicken Parmesan

Pot Roast

Roasted Chicken

Stirfry

Bowtie pasta with veggie cutouts

Pasta Salad

Baked Mac N Cheese

I have recipes for these if any of them sound appealing

OH, are you using Bush's baked beans?? Not just beans?

And what sized pan?

Yes, Bush's baked beans. And honestly any old pan will do, it's called Glop for goodness sake!! :rotfl: I think it's better in a deeper casserole like pan though, it might get dried out in a larger one (13x9 pan would be too big). We actually had this for dinner tonight. And it's cheap too!
