Newbie here. Going for 5 nights in late September to celebrate 10th anniversary. The wife and I only, no kids. Only other times I've been to Disney were either with kids or as a kid, so we'd really like to make it a "grown-up" trip, and I think eating at the right places will be a big part of that.

Staying at Boardwalk, and am really leaning towards the DxDDP. Probably would want to do a couple of signature meals, but also don't want to use up all of the credits on a few meals.

Any suggestions from the veterans here?

We are going on the night of our anniversary(sept also) to Narcossee per a tip from a CM you can see wishes from there.. next night going to Cali Grill where you can go out on the deck and watch Wishes from there..

Narcosee known for the lobster, Cali Grill for the flatbreads, sushi and more! Have a wonderful trip!

Also I think Jiko would be nice and the next signature I want to try as I LOVE AKL

One of our Favorite restaurants is right at the Boardwalk - Flying Fish. It would be a wonderful place for your anniversery. Our other favorite is not on the dining plan, but is close to your resort - BlueZoo at the Dolphin.

Either one has wonderful food & service. After dinner, it's very nice to stroll around Crescent Lake together, maybe enjoy the Boardwalk, maybe see Illuminations....

Citricos at the GF is very nice too. After dinner there, you can watch Wishes from the boat dock, or stroll the path to the Poly & watch Wishes from the Beach there.

We enjoy Jiko as well. AKL is just stunning. Food & Service at Jiko are very good. The ambiance of the Lodge is so exotic. We like to go a little early & see the animals. Then after dinner, we like to sit by the firepit.

We just had our 15th anniversary dinner at CA Grill last week and it was amazing! This was my 4th time eating there in 4 years and we have always had a great meal and beaitiful view. :goodvibes

decide on the DxDP you get three TS credits per night stayed. To me eating three TS meals a day becomes a chore. A signature meal requiring two credits and either a breakfast or an early lunch for the other credit. The signature meals would fit right in for an adult only anniversary trip.

Some of the restaurants we like:

Flying Fish - very near your hotel
Jiko - Great food, atmosphere and service
Artist Point - kind of out of the way and quieter than most other Disney restaurants. It has a Northwest national park feel.
California Grill - great food and service. It can be loud so not always a choice for that one adult dinner out on a trip which is not an issue for you
Citricos - Mediterranean refined cooking.
Victoria and Alberts - not on the DXDP but very good food with excellent service.

I really enjoy Artist Point at WL.. Great atmosphere, great wait staff and the fod was just AMAZING..

Adding to the California Grill idea. My husband and I spent our 25th anniversary there. We'll never forget it, it was a wonderful, magical night.

My DH and I ate at Citricos for our anniversary dinner last year. It was wonderful! They knew it was our anniversary so they had special menus we could take home as souvenirs!

Since we were w/o the kids for this trip we tried restaurants we knew the kids may not like, like Teppan Edo. We loved it! It may be a group dining experience since 8 people fit at each table, but it is a fantastic "experience" meal!

California Grill should be on your list too.

But if you are going in approx 2 months, make those ADR's now! Since guests can book ADR's 6 months in advance, you may not get the all times you want, even though the end of Sept is relatively quiet. But as long as you are flexible with possibly eating early or later (easier to do w/o kids to worry about), you should be able to get most of what you want.

Good luck and have fun! :thumbsup2

I'm going to go against the majority and state that when my husband and I go adults only, we do not do the dining plan because the best restaurants are not on the dining plan. And, they are located within walking distance of where you are staying.

Bistro de Paris in France, bluezoo at the Dolphin, Il Mulino at the Swan.

Congrats on your upcoming trip and anniversary!! We loved trying a whole bunch of signature restaurants on our anniversary trip. We loved Yachstman Steakhouse and Narcoossee's, which we tried for the first time. We also always do Cali Grill, which never disappoints. Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge was a really romantic and great dinner as well. Good luck!!

My DH and I also just celebrated our anniversary in Disney. Our fav restaurant is Narcoossee's at GF. The surf & turf is excellent (lobster tail and filet)!! We also loved Cali Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, & Artist Point. Le Cellier is also very good. We did do V&A but it was a once in a lifetime treat and may never do it again. It was nice but just not for me I guess. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Disney most of the time you can't go wrong. We also did the DxDDP on that trip b/c we wanted to try so many different "nice" restaurants w/o the kids. Hope you have a magical trip!

Thanks for the feedback guys - One question: How hard is it to get from Boardwalk to one of the other resorts? I figure we could walk thru Epcot and get on the monorail to go to the restaurants at the CR, Poly, or GF pretty easily, but I was hesitant to go to other places (like AKL, WP, etc) because I didn't want it to be a chore to get there and back.

Right now, for our 5 nights, I have ADRs for Cali Grill, Yachtsman, Wolfgang Puck cafe, Tappen Edo, and Boma.

What about Kouzzina? Is it worth a dinner? Being at the Boardwalk, there is no hassle to get to. Would like to at least eat breakfast there sometime.

Speaking of breakfast, we both love a good breakfast and want to find the best places. I've heard that Boma is great, but again how easy is it to get to in the morning? I have an ADR for breakfast at the Crystal Palace, but if the characters are the main attraction vs. the food, I'll drop it. Characters really don't do anything for me; I just want the best food.

you're heading there are a couple of options. For any of the restaurants on near the MK, such as Cali Grill, take the resort bus to the MK. For the Contemporary it is easy to just walk over. Take the resort monorail to the GF or Poly. You may also choose to ride the resort monorail for the Contemporary for the experience but walking is so easy.

There will be a bus from your resort to DTD. For AKL and Boma, I would probably take the boat or walk to DHS and catch the AKL from there. The walkway and waterway are less than half way from the Boardwalk Resort and the international gate.

There are also always cabs available.

For the last several years, we've celebrated our anniversary at WDW with dinner at Artist Point. We always get personnalized menus and a lovely table. Don't forget your anniversary pins!

IMO easier to catch your BW bus over to MK, then ride the monorail to CR, Poly or GF, or catch a boat over to Poly or GF; ditto boat over to WL. You can walk through EPCOT & catch monorail but you'll be taken to TTC & still have to monorail or boat to a resort.

Another option is to boat ride over to DHS & catch any of the resort buses from that park -you could get over to AKL for BOMA's that way.

CP has a wonderful breakfast IMO. Have not been in years but Cape May character bfast over at the Beach & Yacht Club is a lovely restaurant. I know you said characters aren't a big deal but they really are fun & the food at both are good. Cape May is just a boat ride from the Boardwalk or you could walk to it.

Enjoy the boardwalk night life & your 10 year anniversary  You have a nice line-up of ADR's planned. ENJOY :thumbsup2

I know that this is a little off topic but take a look at this thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2404255&goto=newpost

DH and I are going on a 4 night trip for my birthday and we are doing one of the nights on the Premium Package. That will give us three signature restaurants to use over 2 days. I think that we've decided on Citricos, Fultons Crab House, and Yachtsmans. I know that some of the restaurants that are available on the Premium Plan are not available on the dinning plan. You also get unlimited recreation and tours. We are doing La Nouba, parasailing, horseback riding and a few other grown up activities. We have small children so we would never be able to do any of those things on our yearly family trip.

I'm going to cast another vote for Citrico's at The Grand.
First of all...you're at The Grand (Need I say more?).

If The Grand doesn't do it for you, then Citrico's will. After about 9 trips to The World, I can say without reservation that Citrico's was the best meal I've ever had on property.

NoodlesMom - Clicked the link to the other thread and it sounds interesting, but got bogged down in the 41-page thread. Can you sum it up for me? Right now I have a room-only reservation (with the 40% off promotion) for five nights, Sunday night thru Thusday night. I was planning to add deluxe dining & park tickets to this. Could i cancel it and book a four-night room only, add the dining & tickets, and then book a one-night premium package? Would I have to then have a 4-day pass for the parks and 1-day pass, rather than a 5-day pass? That would make the overall cost go up as well, correct? Can I add premium to a room-only reservation to make it a package?

Thanks for your help.

First, I would not do Cali Grill - it is noisy, busy, not romantic at all. The view is nice if you are near a window, and it is good food, but if it were located on the ground floor it would be no more popular than anything else in WDW.

For our money, Jiko cannot be beat. Much better atmosphere, much more romantic.

If you really want to go all out, however, you'll go to Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian. Expensive but worth every penny. Never heard of someone being sad they went.

As for breakfast, our favorite is the Grand Floridian Cafe - 1 TS credit, but lovely setting out of the way that a lot of people ignore or don't know about. Nice view of the GF courtyard and the Maple Vanilla French Toast is the best breakfast item on the planet. :)

I don't know if others will agree, but I know that DS does. He and DDIL went there for their wedding anniversary and they were very disappointed in the "hub-bub" atmosphere, as he called it.
