Need dessert suggestions please!

Angel Lush cake is my new favorite dessert. It is a very light dessert, which I tend to favor. Plus, it is so easy and versatile.

http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/angel-lush-pineapple-74114.aspx

1 can (20 oz.) DOLE Crushed Pineapple in Juice, undrained
1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 pkg. (10 oz.) round angel food cake, cut into 3 layers
10 small fresh strawberries

Make It

MIX pineapple and dry pudding mix. Gently stir in COOL WHIP.

STACK cake layers on plate, spreading pudding mixture between layers and on top of cake.

REFRIGERATE 1 hour. Top with berries.

Variation
Prepare using 1 pkg. (1 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Pudding and COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.

How to Cut Cake
Use toothpicks to mark cake into 3 layers. Use a serrated knife to cut cake, in sawing motion, into layers.

I made this the other night. But I used banana pudding instead of vanilla pudding. And I used raspberries instead of strawberries. Since you don't like berries, use sliced bananas or slice almonds or just serve it plain.

A couple other variations I've seen is to serve them in individual dishes. Just cube up the angel food cake. Or you can use those individual sponge cakes and just layer with the pudding mixture.

OK, I could love these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do spiders a lot. Equal parts of choclate chips, butterscotch chips, peanuts and chinese noodles. Melt the chips together. Stir in the nuts and noodles. Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Take a teaspoon and plop the mixture onto the cookie sheet in single plops...sort of liek those cholate turtles that they sell in candy stores. Freeze. Once they are frozen you can take them off the cookie sheet and put them into a ziploc and into the freezer till you need them. Then just throw the wax paper away and you don't even have to wash the cookie sheet! ;)

They are really the easiest things and people LOVE them!

We make these sometimes, but we call them haystacks!

Oreo pudding dessert. Feeds a lot

Two packages vanilla instant pudding.
One package French vanilla instant pudding. Mix with milk according to package instructions.

Fold in one tub of Cool Whip. The "regular size" not the small one and not the ginormous size. Can't remember oz.

Crush one package of Oreos and either put on top or mix in with the pudding (I mix them in).

Chill and serve the same day, cookies tend to get soggy.

Pineapple Fluff.. This is my Dson-in-law's absolute favorite - as well as everyone here at the lake - and I get roped into making it for a very, very large crowd for the end-of-the-season Labor Day fling every year.. (Along with a huge bowl of Waldorf Salad..)

It's inexpensive to make for a large crowd.. Ingredients are:

Crushed pineapple
Bananas
Dry vanilla instant pudding mixes
Angel food cake
Cool Whip

If you're interested, I could dig out the recipe (for the exact amounts and instructions) or you might be able to find it here on the CB using the search feature as I'm pretty sure I have posted this recipe here several times for people who requested it..:)

Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Refrigerate 12-24 hours until serving.

This is a favorite people always ask me to bring: Tastes like the best pb&j you've ever eaten:

2 sticks of butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups of peanut butter (your choice reg or chunky)
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups jam (your choice of flavor)
2/3 cup chopped peanuts

Cream together butter and sugar, add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla, salt, and peanut butter. Beat until well combined. Add baking powder and flour. Mix until just combined.

Press 2/3 of batter evenly into greased 9x13 inch pan. Spread jam over top. Crumble remaining batter over top of jam. Sprinkle with peanuts. Bake 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares.

Had to comment on the name here. I work in an office that occasionally has Reps come in and bring us "gifts" or ship things to us for Christmas ect. Normally the standard Mrs. Fields or Pep Farms holiday assortments of goodies.

Well one year we had a Rep mail us (out of the blue, wasn't even for a holiday) an assorted 6 pack of Smack Yo' Mama BBQ sauce! Just this afternoon one of my coworkers came into my office and asked if I remembered the name of that yummy BBQ sauce someone once gave us, reminding me of the interesting name so I thought it was funny seeing the name for this bread pudding.

BTW this recipe looks yummy!!!

I've had that banana pudding before and it is amazing!

I have been asked too bring a dessert to a church function on Sunday - it is the graduation seniors banquet.

so - while brownies would be super easy to make...and I have everything for that - I think many people iwll bring brownines - cuz they are easy to make.

So - I am looking for other ideas. My "rule" nothing with berries - they just gross me out, and my car would smell -EWWW.

Any other ideas?

thanks!

Thanks for all your suggestions...

I really would have loved to make the Not Yo Mama's Banana Pudding...I just wasn't able to figure out if it should be made the "day of" or the "day before".

I absolutely LOVED the dessert lasagna idea -and I know I love the chocolate eclare. There are many other ideas that I'm definitely going to be keeping handy for this summer.

I did find a recipe on the puff pastry websitehttp://www.puffpastry.com/recipedetail.aspx?recipeID=23976&rc=-1
that I made. They turned out very nice!

The youth director was "all over" this dessert...;)

Oddly enough - all the people who contributed desserts were afraid there would be too many brownies, so subsequently, there were NO brownies. Oh well...

I might even try the recipe that called for raspberry preserves...just substituting cherry preserves instead. I truly do not like berries...not at all.

And the chocolate coated-peanut butter/graham cracker sandwiches...OMG - those just look amazing. I'm not sure when...but I'll be making those for something.

Thank you everyone for your help!!! This will be a great thread!!!!

For future reference, you can make the banana pudding dessert the day before. Just wait and put the top layer of cookies on right before leave. Sometimes I make an extra batch to keep at home for the family because the pan I take gets devoured. The pan at home stays in the fridge for two or three days before it's gone and it tastes just fine. The Chessman cookies are sold where you'd find the other Pepperidge Farm cookies. They are in a sack (like a lunch bag). Get two packages.

Thanks so much for the additional details! I can't wait to make this!!!
