Hello Everyone!

I am finalizing plans on a trip to the world in September. We have two groups arriving at different times on 9/10: Me, DH, & DD arrive early afternoon on Saturday and the rest of the party land at MCO at 5:15p.

I had originally booked the pirates and pals fireworks cruise for Saturday night as a surprise for everyone- kind of a big kick off to the week- but now that the second group is not going to be in until late- I don't think they are going to make it to the contemporary in time- they would need to get there at 7:30. I could look at a car service for them, but if we run into any delays at all I would be out quite a bit of money.

So, I have resigned to cancelling the cruise but I would still love to try to do something special to kick off the trip.

We can go into the parks- we have the days on the tickets- but I'm stumped.

Any creative ideas would be much appreciated!

Are they taking ME? They probably aren't arriving at the hotel until 7pm at the earliest, and that's without delays.
Where are you all staying, and how many people? I think a close-to-home dinner is the best bet but I still am not a fan of making a reservation on arrival day with that tight of a window.

Kitchen Sink- Beaches and Cream- unwind and confirm plans for coming days.

Are you sure the other group will be up to doing something right away? I know once I've gone through two airports, been packed like a sardine on a plane for 3 hours and sometimes an hour on a crowded ME bus I just want some decompression time sitting by a quiet pool.

If your positive they're land and go kind of people. How many total people will there be, what are the ages of the kids and where are you staying?

Yeah, I was hoping for something a little less intense- we will be staying at beach club that night, so trying to get into beaches and cream might not be a horrible idea- but there will be 8 of us. Actually, maybe sticking around the resort and hitting the pool would be a good idea- it will be the only night we can be at that pool and I have heard it is pretty awesome. I'm wondering if they do the movies at beach club....

If that's the only night for that pool you definitely don't want to miss it. I'd have the other group text you when they get in, order a pizza from somewhere off property, it and they should arrive around the same time. Eat and visit them head down to relax by the pool.

Make sure you tell them to pack their suits in their carry on!

Thank you! I really was completely overlooking the obvious. I think I was just really bummed about the fireworks thing not panning out.. you know how that goes... all the careful planning :rotfl2:

What hotel are you staying at? Maybe the hotel has some fun evening activities? I know we are staying AKL in March and we are due to Arrive in the afternoon but I don't want to really do a heavy park day bc we will be driving most of the day. We are planning on going over to AK to request my son's DAS so we have it for the rest of the week, then I am planning a 6PM dinner ADR for Sanaa and then after that we are planning the campfire at the Arusha Fire pit w/ Smores, followed by Movies Under the Stars, and then followed by Animal Viewing w/ the night vision goggles, lol...so maybe your resort has some cool night time activities. If not maybe there is a resort in close proximity that has some cool nighttime stuff to do

I think you can get mini-kitchen sinks from a to go window at Beaches and Cream. That could be fun to share poolside. Definitely enjoy the pool if it's your only chance.

SAB is Awesome. Don't miss the chance to settle in, unpack & get settled for the busy week ahead & Relax. Travel day is very tiring. I think you are trying to overplan. Enjoying SAB & an adult beverage if you choose from Hurricane Hannah's before an earl night sounds perfect to me.

I agree with the others. Stay at the BC and enjoy the pool. They do have movies there at night. I'm not sure where exactly as I haven't been there since they took the movies off the beach. They also have a time for roasting marshmallows near the pool which is always fun. You'll be able to see Illuminations from BC, too. I think that would be a great way to start your vacation with no worries about any travel delays.

If you're really looking for something to do that night, you could also play mini golf at Fantasia Gardens, rent a surrey and take a ride around the boardwalk.

I agree the pool is a must at Beach Club and with the difference in arrival times and a good chance the 5:10 arrival flight will be delayed i wouldn't be planning much the first night especially something that costs $$. The pool and hotel are wonderful- you'll thank yourself for this later -trust me!!

I agree with what others have said: go to Storm Along Bay! I walked passed part of it while walking from the Dolphin to Epcot and it looks amazing!

You can also get some ice cream to go from Beaches and Cream, walk across to the Boardwalk area or even watch part of Illuminations from out on the path between the resorts/Epcot.

I believe one of the mini golf places are near by there as well.

Tons of things to do in that area to make a first night special without been too stressful!

Have fun!!

We have walking around the Boardwalk as our arrival night activity. (Dinner at Cape May). Sorry your plans did pan out.
