In December, I want to do a cookie/cupcake decorating party with my DD's Girl Scout Troop, kind of a holiday party. They are all 10 years old. The troop is fairly small, as there are only 5 girls in the troop.

I've seen some cute ideas on the Wilton website, as well as Family Fun's website.

I'm looking for some easy decorating ideas - not necessarily holiday related - but we'll be doing some holiday stuff too.

If anyone can share any ideas - that would be great!

When my son was very young I loved to let the kids decorate their own treat for snack time. I would ice the cupcakes and then get m&m candies, coconut, sprinkles, and any candies and icing they might like and put it in bowls with spoons. I would put a cupcake on a plate with dividers and let the children pick out toppings which we would spoon into the dividers of the plate and then let them decorate. They always seemed to enjoy this.

My sister would always buy the extra large sugar cookies and then let the children do the above after she had also pre-iced them.

Have alot of fun and take alot of pictures.

You could get cookie cutters, make a batch of rice krispy treats, and have the girls put the rice krispy mixture into the cookie cutters. Pop them out, and then decorate them.
You could sprinkles, if you make snowmen, then you could get red hots, m&ms...to make a snowman.

you could have a theme, like bugs (making ladybugs and butterflies), animals (like puppies and bears), or princessy things (like purses, jewelry, crowns). let them use decoraters gel if you are adventurous, or just use those sugar oranments that go on top of cupcakes. sprinkles and colored sugar are fun too. since this is in December, how about making gingerbread houses? just do the old milk carton thing: glue graham crackers around the sides and top of an individual milk carton with stiff frosting. them decorate with candies and such. decorating gingerbreadmen(and women) is also a good idea. if you feel up to it you can teach them how to use decorator's bags with frosting to make bears and clowns. i took the wilton I cake decorating class and the bears and clowns are simple to make. hope this helps!

Daisymae - We'll definitely be doing the clowns. Those are the easiest things. My 10 yo DD and I took the Wilton Course 1 also. So we have enough of the supplies (bags, tips, colors and connectors etc)
