Need cheap flights help please.... flydrive possible?

Hiya Everyone,

So Disney have tempted us back with the free dining offer () and we've got some dates on hold.... but am *really* struggling to get flights any cheaper that £400 each (we are two adults going).

We are looking at 9nights in September at the moment (would this make it harder because we need scheduled flights or something, would longer or shorter stay be better?)

We would prefer to fly from Manchester but could fly from anywhere in UK if it makes it cheaper

One option that I have seen people discuss is to book a flydrive....but we do not drive. Is this possible, just dont pick up the car or something?!

What about waiting until the last minute? Too many risks?!!

Any suggestions as to what day is cheapest to fly or whatever also appreciated!!

Sorry, this post is somewhat convoluted but basically we dont really mind when we fly or where from or with who (we'd even go on separate flights if it helped LOL) we just need it as cheap as possible because we have our wedding next year to save for too!

Hi Gaspode,

Sorry to mention the dreaded 'Travel City Direct', a quick check with them shows a 14 night flydrive with them in mid September as £754 total, including car hire, I know that you can amend the booking to drop the car hire for a fee.
We have had nothing but good service from them, unlike some!
May be worth considering, their flights for that time are listed as £179 each+ taxes from Manchester.

I did already go to TCD (why are they dreaded? lol) after seeing them mentioned on another thread... but colour me confused I could only find a reservation phone number (ie no way to get prices online)....?

Off to keep looking!

We don't have a car, but always book a flydrive just so we can book further out than the standard 11 months for a schedule flight.

Have you looked at indirect flights? They may work out cheaper.

Have you checked out teletext?

Which will give you loads of phone numbers, then spend an evening in ringing round. Sometimes this is easier than trawling web-sites.

Also I'll admit I'm old enough to want to discuss my options with a real person!!!!!!!!

Yes, i've checked teletext, unfortunately even having phoned all of those companies I have not found anything less than 450 each from MAN.

Living in Yorkshire it is better for us to fly from Manchester so thanks Carol but Gatwick would just cost us too much to get to (we are both non-drivers at present).

Hopefully they will start to come down in price?! 450 each seems such a lot to pay when the hotel (and all food due to free dining) is only 550 total LOL.

Any other thoughts appreciated,

On the TCD website homepage, look to the bottom right of the page, there should be a green button with 'click here and book now and availability' flashing. Click on there and you will access the availability page, type in what sort of holiday you want, eg flydrive or hotel etc and it will work out prices and availability for you.
They are now listing until October of 2006.

Just looked on thomsonflights.com, and you can get flights in September from Manchester to Sanford direct for £345 per adult (inc taxes). Problem is though, it looks like they only fly out on Saturdays and back on Fridays, so it'd have to be a 7 or 14 night stay.
