i was wondering if someone could help me out. i am looking for the best rental car deal. the trick is we are going for 10 days and the extra days at the end that go over the 1 week rental rate is adding on a lot of extra cost. where to go for the best rate? what about priceline? what would be a reasonable bid per day for a fullsize car? are there any risks to priceline?

thank you so much!

Check out www.biddingfortravel.com and look under the Orlando rental car section. It will have examples of previous won bids for rental cars. It may be your best bet as you bid per day. The only stipulation with Priceline is you dont know what company you get until its accepted and you cant cancel or make any changes..

I have 9 days for a compact at Continental for $173 including taxes. We get there Fri, so I will let you know if they are any good. I have not been able to find any info on the boards about it.

when is the rental...need dates to plug in some of the codes I know to find you the best deal.

Disnee Dad Says................................The main problem with priceline is you don't know who you are renting from. You can easily burn an hour or more if you need to take a shuttle to get your car, and another hour on the return. If you are flying in, you can expect to pay $20 an hour for every hour you are in Orlando, for air, food, hotel, etc. I look at it this way, I don't want to pay $20 an hour to sleep, so the true rate is $30 for every awake hour and no charge to sleep. A car at the airport I can usually do get and return in thirty minutes. The shuttleplaces will probably take two hours to get and return. So I need to save at least $45 a week to get a shuttle car.
I am useing Dollar, less than $25 a day for an eight day rental, for a compact, includeing all fees, taxes, etc. I'm not sure but I think I rented the car for $5 a day and paid fees and taxes of $20 a day!!! That "You are breathing Florida air" tax really irks me. Even worse is the "If you rent the car and actually use it" tax!

thank you so much for all the replies. we are going dec. 6-15. i will look forward to hearing about this continental car rental. do you know if these bidding places include taxes and such in their price or is that additional? i thought the rental car would be the easiest part of the trip planning! thank you all again.

I have done priceline everytime iVe been to Disney, with my kids and with hubby just and i, I have had a compact pickup truck, Premuim car and Luxury car. I Never had problems with priceline. But i have always got on site car rentals which was Avis or budget , I just got back two weeks ago and i truly think if you go more than 7 days or less than 7 you need pricleine.
They add the taxes later but you see the whole price before you lock in the bid.
The only drawback is you cannot cancel , it's final no money back.

We have used Priceline alot for minivan rentals in Orlando and usually get onsite places (Dollar, Budget) Once we got Alamo but had no problems with the shuttle. Maybe we were lucky but it is worth it to save $$$ to us.

I just used priceline last night and got hertz! Full sz. car for 28.00 a day for 13 days. We are going during the holiday and I was getting very high rates from dollar and national. I would of liked to get a full sz car for 25.00 a day but priceline rejected until i got to 28.00. I have a coupon for an upgrade with hertz that i am going to try to use too! Hope this helps!
