Has anyone done this? How do you know how many points it takes. Is there a way to see how much money it takes to supplement the points? Finally, can this actually be done?

You must book the first adult on points then you can use any combination of points or cash as long as you pay the entire amount for each individual only one way (cash or points). Be warned that the cash price for each person can be higher through DVC than through DCL directly. You also do not have any access to most specials that may be going on.

When going on a cruise sometimes it is better to rent the points and pay for the cruise in cash. You will find that with some of the deals on the cruise along with the price people pay to rent points that you will end up saving points. I beleive it worked out for me that I was able to stay at BWV for 3 days with the points I saved.

I have never rented points before and actually am quite intimidated by the idea. Is it a pretty painless process?

You may want to see how much it will cost you by calling DVC before you decide to rent out your points. I booked a cruise with points and cash and because of the season I think that we got a pretty good deal. I estimated that we got almost $8 per point. The extra money that I might have received by renting out my points wasn't worth the hassle to me. So, before you decide to go one way or the other, get all of the facts that you can.
