I wish I had first hand advice to give you, FloridaCat. But you will be in my thoughts and prayers...

I too, wish I had advice for you... but you will remain in my thoughts and prayers

First you need to get a second opinion. I'm not saying that your doc isn't good, but a second opinion on any procedure is an absolute must!!!!!

Second look at the recurrence rate with both offered procedures. I don't know them offhand but that should be available by doing a search on Google for bladder cancer.

Third- Having an illeoconduit isn't the worst thing in the world. I have taken care of many patients who lead a VERY normal life with an ostomy.

Fourth- The American Cancer Society has many support groups available for patients with ostomies. Here's a link to a message board for Urostomy patients, they may be able to offer more information.

Good Luck and my prayers are with you.

This was the second opinion. My 2 DD's insisted on it and I am getting the same reading from my CT's from both Dr. They both reccommend removal versus reconstruction and it offers the best chance of cure rather then buying time.

Thanks for your advice and help, Your very kind.

No advice, but lots of PD & prayers.

Follow your heart, I always say.......

IMO, remove the bladder!!!and have chemo-if they want you to do both. I would want it out of my body.

A lot of people have the pouch. It will take some getting used to but you will learn to live with it.

I don't know much about your situation so I am just going by what you posted.

Sending lots of pixie dust and prayers.

I just said a prayer for you. I don't have any advice, but I thought I would bump this up for you.

I'd recommend yet another opinion from Sloan Kettering Memorial in NYC. Although there's great care available nationwide, I'd go to the place that's setting the standard, if it were me and I could get in.

FWIW, My father went with the remove bladder-wear a pouch option in 1997 and has been cancer free ever since. He has lead a very active life and pretty much goes where he wants and does what he wants and is quite happy he was agressive.

Prayers to guide you to best solution.
Prayers for you, and your family.

To make you smile.

If there is any thing I can do please just PM.
