Need an easier Emerald Club membership?
I recently joined the Disney Club, and tried to take advantage of the free Emerald Club membership through the card. I called the toll free number on the DC website to get a fee-waived application. I waited on hold for no less than 30 minutes before I got a National customer service rep (funny, but the message at the beginning said my estimated hold time was less than one minute, yeah right!). When I finally got a human, I told her what I wanted, she took my name and address, and told me she would mail it to me. Over 2 weeks later, I got the fee-waived application. It was a very poor copy, partially cut off, partially unreadable. Also, it had no address to mail it back too, or a fax number to send it back to. This morning I tried to call the same number again to get another application. I am not exagerating when I say that I stayed on hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Again, I got the same message "Your estimated hold time will be less than 1 minute." I was so mad I was steaming!
Finally, I got mad enough to hang up....with a few cursory curse words at the recorded voice in the background. Hey, it made me feel better at least. I remember seeing something on www.mousesavers.com about the Emerald Club. I proceeded to follow Mary's directions on going to the www.capitolone.com website for a web-based (free) application. A couple of minutes later, and presto, I was finished and had a Emerald Club ID member. (Got one for DH too.) I then went onto the reservation area, typed in my membership info, and made my ressies. I did change the contract ID info from Capitol One to the Disney Club contract ID, although you would not have to do that. Again, Mary and Mousesavers have saved the day for me, as well as some money. Hope this info saves someone the aggravation I went through.
