Need an easier Emerald Club membership?

I recently joined the Disney Club, and tried to take advantage of the free Emerald Club membership through the card. I called the toll free number on the DC website to get a fee-waived application. I waited on hold for no less than 30 minutes before I got a National customer service rep (funny, but the message at the beginning said my estimated hold time was less than one minute, yeah right!). When I finally got a human, I told her what I wanted, she took my name and address, and told me she would mail it to me. Over 2 weeks later, I got the fee-waived application. It was a very poor copy, partially cut off, partially unreadable. Also, it had no address to mail it back too, or a fax number to send it back to. This morning I tried to call the same number again to get another application. I am not exagerating when I say that I stayed on hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Again, I got the same message "Your estimated hold time will be less than 1 minute." I was so mad I was steaming!

Finally, I got mad enough to hang up....with a few cursory curse words at the recorded voice in the background. Hey, it made me feel better at least. I remember seeing something on www.mousesavers.com about the Emerald Club. I proceeded to follow Mary's directions on going to the www.capitolone.com website for a web-based (free) application. A couple of minutes later, and presto, I was finished and had a Emerald Club ID member. (Got one for DH too.) I then went onto the reservation area, typed in my membership info, and made my ressies. I did change the contract ID info from Capitol One to the Disney Club contract ID, although you would not have to do that. Again, Mary and Mousesavers have saved the day for me, as well as some money. Hope this info saves someone the aggravation I went through.

Interesting..I called, was on hold less than a minute..and got an original copy within 5 days..sent it back, called a week later, and got my number..and finished up my ressies. Just like calling Disney..a different experience, each time!!
I decided to go with DC, since I wasn't a member of Capitalone..don't own the credit card, and felt I really wasn't entitled..plus, I didn't want to get there and ever decide to ask to see my card..and be embarassed.

I just tried the online app for my DW and after filling it out several times, it always comes up with a page not available error where the EC number is supposed to be. Just emailed NCR about it. Was also able to change Capital One to DC. Not that it matters because I have both.

I called last week and was told an app would be in the mail. I wasn't on the phone long. Hopefully it comes in the mail soon! It also states on the website the online app is unavailable. I can't seem to get quotes either. I keep getting "invalid station" and I know I did the same thing last night and it was fine.

Tinkerbell, if you email me I will send you a link that I found where you can enroll for free on-line using DC contract code. No you're not setting up a credit card. As posted before, it wasn't working, now I just got it to work for my DW EC membership. All done, piece of cake!

Could you also email me that info that you emailed Tinkerbellrules (if you do not mind) at minybaer@aol.com. I had originally set up Alamo and through these boards found out that we should not do that and to pick another car company. We also are DC members.

I am having loads of problems finding a less expensive car company for 5nts. I would really appreciate your help on this also. We are not going into MCO but LAX for DL/DCA.

Thanks Pluto

I cannot download right now due to I am at work, but when I get home then I will look at it. I really thank you.

Wish me luck.

Cindy

Thanks Pluto I got my free membership but the price is still way to high. At least when we board American Airlines we would not be the last to board the plane. Looks like I will possibly do Budget.

Thanks
Cindy

Pluto thanks for the heads up. Even with my DC discount the price came to over $300 for a midside car for 5 days.

We are going in 4 weeks to DL/LAX. If we choose a compact car it would have been $253 and an intermediate car $315 w/discounts (and with full insurance) with National. Way to expensive. Right now Budget has an internet specal for 25% off. I am looking into that and Mary has some codes on her web site for budget also. I am about to throw my hands up on how expensive this ending up to be.

When I entered in the information you gave me I only put DC code in. Is there any other code I should have put in?

Sorry, I thought you were going to WDW! DL rentals must be really high. Do you have to fly out of that airport? Seems someone suggested another one. I can't remember the name. Don't laugh, but I thought it had something to do with John Wayne. I'm probably way off on that :)

We are flying into LAX and the tickets were only $85 pp. Great rate. You are right the other airport is John Wayne airport.
