We usually fly Airtran out of Dayton Ohio. The rates just aren't that great and from the way that gas prices are going up at least here in Dayton (2.15/gal for reg) I don't see the prices going down. They say that gas will go over 2.50/gal by Memorial Day.

Anyhow...How do I find out other airlines that fly out of Dayton or near Dayton that have good rates? SWA doesn't fly out of Dayton and my mom doesn't want to drive 2 hours to get to Indy.

Thanks

Try Expedia. For Dayton, it lists the following airlines that fly from/near Dayton:

Delta
USAirways
Northwest
American
United
AirTran

They may involve connections or stops, but may be worth checking out...

I recommend going to Orbitz (or one of the other on-line travel companies), plugging in Dayton and Orlando and see what you get. I believe that the other airline that operates non-stop service from DAY to MCO would be Delta (thru Chatauqua), which I believe has 3 non-stops down daily, and two back. I think AirTran is usually a little cheaper, but plug in your dates and see what you get.

Good luck!

Hi,
I would sincerely recommend a site called ITA software. I haven't found any site that shows such a large option of airlines or flights. You can do a month long search to find the least expensive days to travel during any given 30 days if your dates are flexible. You may also want to check at different times of the day and week to keep track of when prices are the best. Someone once told me the best time to check is after midnight on Wednesday but I haven't tried yet. You don't book through this site though, they just show flights and prices and then you contact the airline or a travel agent.
Good Luck

Thanks guys. We are going July 9-17 so on Airtran it was 99.00 down (n/s) and 144.00 back (n/s).

I'm going to check that site out brownhaired_girl to see if I can change my dates around to get the best rates. I have the rooms paid for I would just need to move the ressie around.

Thanks again guys!

Just plugging in your dates on Orbitz, Delta is looking like the better option at $223 round-trip, non-stop both directions (after Orbitz commission), compared to the $243 AirTran is quoting you. I'd imagine you could bring the fare down under $220 per ticket going directly thru Delta for your dates.

The added advantage to using Delta is that they have several non-stops a day, in case of trouble with your first choice of flight, and in a worst case scenario, lots and lots of connecting flights.

An additional advantage is that Delta participates in Disney's Magical Express, which would be great, if you're staying on-site; your dates are well after the start-up of this service in May.

edited to add:
Yep, I checked Delta's site, and am getting $217 r-t for non-stops DAY-MCO. Good luck!

Hi again,
I checked your dates on ITA and it listed 6 options for non-stop flights for $216. They were on Delta or a combination of Delta one way and Airtran the other way. I also checked a month long search starting July 1 for 8 nights and found rates as low as $202.90.
Good Luck

Have you check Cincinnatti airport? It handles more flights and Delta's big there. Would you be willing to check Columbus? Independence Air flies there...

Thanks for the ideas guys. Brownhaired_girl I looked at the website and found the 216 fares. I was going to switch things around for the 202.00 fare but my girls would miss too many days from preschool to switch the days.

So basically I got roundtrip from Dayton to Orlando non-stop 216.90 ea. The rep from Delta told me that if by chance they were to go down they would issue vouchers for the difference so that made me feel better.
