DD has requested an air fryer for Christmas, and I want to look for it on Black Friday. But I know nothing about them. She wants a smallish one, as she only cooks for herself and counter space is limited with multiple college students sharing. I don't want to spend a lot, since she may not even like it once she uses it.

What is the good, the bad, and the ugly? Any factor to avoid? To look for? I appreciate any info/advice you cans share. Thanks.

We bought the Dash Compact Air Fryer initially and found it was too small for our needs, but would be PERFECT for one person. It takes up very little counter space and works great.

Good luck! My DD24 wanted a smallish one last year, and it was cheaper to get her a bigger one, so that's what I did. However, your DD may have space limitations, so she may prefer a smaller one.

I’ve seen some that are upright and seem to have a food compartment that pulls out. Do you just pull that section out and clean it? Several say DW safe, so I guess you just put that (somewhat bulky) section in the DW?

I love my air fryer. It's only me and when I was originally looking I was thinking of getting a smaller one but I'm glad I got a larger one, giving me the option to cook more at once. I think a nice size is atleast 5 or 6 quarts. I have this one https://www.target.com/p/as-seen-on-tv-6qt-digital-power-air-fryer-oven/-/A-53134235. The trays come out making it easier to clean. I also like that the trays can be changed out depending on how much room you need for what ever you are cooking.

I have a cuisinart one that toasts, bakes, broils and air frys. It is awesome. I got it at Costco. It has a pull out tray for air frying, so it does a lot at once. It is about the size of a toaster oven, but it very versatile since it does so much.
