Need advice

As I posted on another thread, DS and I were in an accident Wednesday.

Now I have never been in an accident other than a minor bump, first time ever that I haven't been able to drive my vehicle away from the scene.

Now I in no way have any intentions to sue the other driver, etc. to try and make a profit off this. Just not sure what steps to pursue. Any other accident we have always just taken the car and gotten and estimate for repairs turned them over to the insurance company and it was taken care of.

What do I need to do in the instance. The car is probably totaled, I don't have anything to drive, they took me in an ambulance on a back board and c-collar, DS had to be examined at the hospital. There is the tow bill and the storage at the tow yard. The other driver was at fault so will his insurance go look at the cars? Do I need a lawyer or are these usually settled in the same manner as my minor accidents have been?

Not looking to stick it to anybody but I'd like to know what to expect and not be blindsided as well.

no advice ... but hugs to you and your family. Usually, the driver at fault is the one whose insurance looks at both cars (I think). Good luck ... we have been in several small accidents, and I know it is so frustrating!

There has to be a police report to determine who was at fault. You will be surprised how it can get turned around.

Did you realize that your medical bills have to be paid through car insurance, not your health ins.

If it is not your fault, then the other driver's ins. has to pay. I hope the other person does have insurance, otherwise your insurance has to sue them to prove that they do not have insurance. Your insurance might want to sue the person before they pay anything for you or your son if they don't have automobile insurance.
