Need advice re booking POP

I've run into this before where POP requires a minimum # of days to be booked, otherwise they say there's nothing available. Here's my problem: I want to book a room from Dec. 27 - Jan. 4, but split the ressie starting on Jan. 1 to take advantage of the reduced rate. POP seems to be requiring a minimum stay of 7 days over the Christmas holidays, so it won't let me do this. I haven't called as yet, just tried online, but I'm pretty sure the same will happen to the CM. I've also got the same problem with a room I want to book for my parents - Dec. 31 - Jan. 4. I can get the 4 days at the most expensive rate, but can't get just Dec. 31.
Any ideas as to how I can work this to get the reduced rate Jan. 1? I don't know, - worst case scenario might be to check out on Jan. 1 and then try to check back in? Don't know about that, or if it would even work!

With the 7 night minimum.. the only way I see this working is to check in on December 24th.. and then you have met your 7 nights by December 31st..

But this won't be any cheaper at all.

I don't know how you can defeat this with the minimum stay rule in place. Personally I don't see a way.

UNLESS.. you booked December 27th to Jan 4th. Then call back and shave a few days off that reservation. And THEN make a third call and make a separate reservation for the Jan 1 to 4 dates.

That might work -- it might not too.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of other people doing that before - I'd forgotten about that! Anyone else know if it would work?

When I booked for this September, I had to orginally book a 13 night stay to get POP with free dining, even though I only wanted 6 nights. I booked the 13 nights on-line, then called and reduced it down to 6 nights with no problems. I'm not sure if this is the same thing that you are trying to do or not, but just thought I'd share.........
