My family of 5, DH, DD(20), DD(20), DD(19), and myself will be vacationing at WDW for a week in August staying at the Poly. Staying concierge so breakfast is covered and beverages and snacks as well. But would appreciate suggestions on both counter and sit down restaurants that are moderate to dare I say cheap(thats probably not possible at WDW) Do you know of any hidden treasures that may be off the beaten path?
Need ideas for all the parks so please fill me in and my humble and grateful thanks ahead of time

one that we like at MK is the plaza restaurant which is moderate on wdw standards. the portions are large enough to share! and it is a sitdown. another we enjoy is big river grill on the boardwalk. again the portions are large. beaches and cream is a good choice, but can be quite a wait at meal times. trail's end buffet for any meal is a great choice. it is located at fort wilderness, an easy boat ride for MK. tusker house in AK is very good. at DTD, earl of sandwich is great and is very inexpensive. wolfgang puck express is another good choice at DTD. hope this helps!

I agree that at DTD you must eat at The Earl of Sandwich. They are $4.95 each and the salads are very good too at that same price. We usually eat there a few times during each visit (although we are closer at SSR). However, I would NEVER pass up the opportunity to eat at 'O'hana - especially since you will be staying right there. Of course, this isn't moderate but it is just too good! :thumbsup2

Enjoy! pixiedust:

ESPN club at the boardwalk is pretty reasonable and had good food from what I can remember.

while there are mixed reviews about this place - i actually liked it - for quick service - try the Pepper Market at CSR - there is quite a variety to choose from and some of the portions are soooo large that its more than enough for 2 people to share!

I agree with many above, especially Tusker House, Wolfgang Puck Express, Earl of Sandwich, and Plaza at MK. We also LOVE Kona Cafe at the Poly...the food is sooooo good and portions are geneous!!! Have a great time!!! :goodvibes

Another vote for Beaches and Cream and also ESPN (family loves the Zone)!

CS: go with Flame Tree BBQ, Tusker House, Cantina at Mexico, Peco Bills

TS: go with San Angel Inn, Boma, 'ohana, House of Blues, Alfredo's, Sci-Fi, Brown Derby

We stayed Poly concierge in June. I hope you have a great time. We really enjoyed the lounge and the evening food offerings were wonderful.

Tusker House at AK, but get there before you are starving--the lines can be ridiculously long!

I love Mama Melroses at MGM. The flatbread pizzas are deceptively filling.

Beaches and Cream at the BC is a short walk out the back of Epcot and has great brugers and sandwiches and cie cream at a reasonable price.

The Plaza at the MK can't be beat for in park value and good food.

The Kona Cafe at the Polynesian has great food and is a casual place. Prices aren't as high as a signature restaurant, but it's not cheap, but portions tend to be hefty.

We really liked Artists Palette at SSR.

Wolfgang Pucks Express is really good, I have to go to House Of Blues for my job a few times a month, and often eat dinner there before going to HoB.

Bongo's is pretty reasonable and filling.

Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Do you have a car?

If so, I like Good's to Go at Old Key West. You can get a burger or tuna sandwich and eat at a picnic table on the water...very relaxing. The buffet in Fort Wilderness (I forget what it is called, sorry) was super cheap and very good.

Tusker House in AK continues to get more crowded for breakfast every few months, I think, but is still a lot of food for a cheapo price and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. You don't want to eat breakfast in the lounge every day, do you? Maybe you do, in which case, enjoy and forget Tusker House. :)

Have a great trip!

You guys are great thanks so much for the advice it is already helping in the planning :grouphug:

Comic Ray's is a good one for MK. 1/2 Rotisserie chicken and 1/2 rack ribs, mashed potatoes, veggie for $13.99. I've read this can easily feed 2/3 people. You could get two of these for $26 and have a nice meal.......it's not like it's fast food, but it is fast and you don't spend anything on a tip since it's CS. :)

Oh, yeah...........the other poster asked it, do you have a car? There is a GREAT buffet, you might have one where you are but we don't, called Sweet Tomatoes. Everything is fresh and you can even see what they are serving on their website for a particular day. www.sweettomatoes.com I think. And it's really cheap, especially at lunch. :teeth:

edited to add: I'm not sure if the price has gone up, but it was $6.99 for lunch when we were there. It is AWESOME. I wish we had one nearby. :sad2:
