This is our 1st trip to Disney and would like any input as to which places are good/not to miss for meals. It will be Myself,ds17,dd14.We are not into alot of fancy/gourmet foods so I really need help on deciding where to eat please. :confused3

Planet Hollywood is good at DTD for regular type food. Also, don't miss the Fish and Chips (counter service) at Epcot by the Rose and Crown. It is one of our faves on every trip. Flame Tree BBQ is fantastic at AK and don't miss 50's Prime Time at MGM. LTT is very good for MK and Columbia Harbor House is good for counter service. We also like House of Blues a lot at DTD. Good luck on your choices, although you will rarely go wrong at Disney.

Our fave place is Ohana. We also like Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time, Chef Mickey, Yorshire, Flame Tree and Earl of Sandwhich.

It really depends - do you want character meals? Do you want Buffets? Do you want a meal at each park? Do you want to stay close to your resort for meals? What kind of food do you like?

Definately spend time at allearsnet looking over the menus!! And do know that opinions here vary widely, based on individual tastes, and likes/dislikes!! For every I loved it - you'll find someone with "not so much" - so go with your instincts!!

Do you have a Japanese style restaurant near you - like Benihana? If not, I'll bet you'll all enjoy the Japanase place in Epcot Tepinayki, if you like steak Le Celliear in Canada is a "Must do" for many - based on the steak and quality of the food, its a nice quiet respite from the parks - in MK many love Liberty Tree Tavern, others have Cinderalla's Castle as a "must do" with changes you get mixed opinions on the Castle meals, as well as the Polynesian's Ohana restaurant - since your kids are older - they may enjoy the Luau, but maybe not at that price!!

Have fun planning!!

For us, our "must-do's" are -

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort for breakfast
Cinderella's Royal Table in the MK for breakfast or lunch
Crystal Palace in the MK for lunch
Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK for dinner

We also like Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge & 'Ohana at the Poly. This year, we're trying Garden Grill & San Angel Inn at Epcot, Donald's Breakfastasauras at the Animal Kingdom, & Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.

You & your family might also enjoy 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, California Grill at the Contemporary, Sci-Fi at MGM, Coral Reef at Epcot, Le Cellier at Epcot, & many of the other World Showcase restaurants at Epcot (Marrekesh, Teppanyaki, Biergarten...).

I'm not as familiar w/ the Boardwalk & the DTD restaurants, but your son might like the ESPN Club. Spoodles looks cute for breakfast. The Rainforest Cafe looks cool too - although, it gets mixed reviews.

For counter service, we like Flame Tree BBQ in the Animal Kingdom (it's my DH's fav WDW restaurant), Columbia Harbour House in the MK, Toy Story Pizza Planet at MGM, & Earl of Sandwich at DTD. Eating/snacking at the World Showcase counter service restaurants is fun at Epcot.

Do you know what days you'll be at what parks? Will you have the dining plan? Are you staying on-site & looking for some restaurants close to your resort?

This years must do's for us are 1900 Park Fare Dinner and Le Cellier. We might be doing Mama Melrose again (it was good, just not sure I need to spend a whole day at MGM and then eat later there) This time we are trying new: Lilo and Stich breakfast, the princess meal at Akerhouse, Cape May buffet, and Boma (or Jiko). Pick what ever food appeals to you and give it a try. We have never had anything inedable, just a couple that we wouldnt spend the money on again when there are so many better choices.

We like very simple foods. The ones that go over best for our family is LTT and Chef Mickey in MK area, and Le Cellier in EPCOT. I have always wanted to eat inside the castle and we did dinner. I wasnt dissapointed at all. But the prime rib was better at CM though. They have since changed the menu at the castle.

The ones we will never go back to is Mama Melrose and Earl of Sandwhich.

Our 3 not to be missed are, in no particular order (we are pretty plain food, nothing strange and fancy type people)

Grand Floridian Cafe
Artist Point
Le Cellier

Other good places to eat are-

The Plaza Restaurant
Whispering Canyon
Sci Fi
ESPN Club
Big River Grill and Brewing Company
Olivia's
Chefs de France
Wolfgang Puck Cafe

Best character dining-
1900 Park Fair (breakfast or lunch, the best)
Chef Mickey (very close behind)
