I'm thinking about doing the western carribean cruise the second or third week of October 2003. Just have a few questions that I hope some of you can answer before I call for rates.

1) Is this time period considered hurricaine season?

2) Our party will consist of 3 adults and 1 three year old. Any suggestions on room category?

3) Probably most importantly, is the 7-day western cruise offered during this week. And if so, which ship (Magic or Wonder) will be carrying the duties.

4) What time does the ship start to board, and what is the sailing time(approximate-am or pm)? Does it always sail on a Saturday?

5) For those guests who have done both the eastern and western cruises, which one did your prefer?

Many thanks, Luis

I'll try to answer some of your questions:

The 7 day cruise is handled by the Magic.
It always leaves on Saturday for the 7 day cruise.

The Hurricane Season in the Atlantic starts on June 1st and ends November 30th, so yes, this would be during Hurrican Season.

October 11 and October 25 will be the only Western Trips for that month. The Magic will be returning from dry dock on October 11th, so it will be in fine shape. It will have just gone thru major cleaning and possible refurbishing of some of the common areas, as well as mechanical checkup and updating of the hull, electronics, and engines, as required.
Here's alink to the DCL Rates and Dates page on their Website that shows the schedule for East and West Cruises:
http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...oupingindex?id=SevenNightCaribbeanRatesGrping

The cruise terminal opens at 10:30am est and passengers are allowed to board starting around 12:15, usually. The cabins are available by 1pm.

The ship is scheduled to pull out of port to begin the cruise at 5pm.

hope that helps

I forgot to try to answer your question about cabin category -

It is purely a matter of your personal choice and your budget for choosing the level of cabin that's right for you.

Since you have 3 adults and one child, you will not be able to choose from category 12 or from category 7 because they won't accomodate 4 people, the other's are open.

First, I'd suggest choosing between the major types of cabins:
an Inside Cabin (11 or 10)
an Outside Cabin with an Oceanview window (9 or 8)
an Outside Cabin with a Veranda (6, 5, or 4)
a Suite (3, 2, or 1)

My DW and I prefer to have an Outside Cabin with a Veranda, we love to think that we're looking at our own 'private ocean'. So we have been in a Cat 4 and a Cat 6.

Others prefer a Suite with Concierge Service.

Other's are Ok with a Window, still others are Ok with an Inside Cabin.

It's purely a matter of choice within your budget.

we were on the may 11 western cruise and were 2 adults and our 3 yr old in a cat 4 which I highly recommend. they have a large bed, a couch that converts into a twin (for our dd) and then you could either use a pull-down murphy bed or a pull-down bunk bed. with a 3 yr old, we spent quite a bit of time in our room for her afternoon nap and then directly after the sho in the evening, so it was worth it to have the extra space and the verandah. hope you have fun!!!
