Need advice on TS restaurants

OK heres the deal,we're doing WDW from Feb 25 to March 5/2009, staying at ASMu in a family suite,as of today theres going to be 7 of us,3 adults (sister inlaw ,wife and myself) and our 4 kids ds 9 ,dd 6, dd 6 and dd 6..
The kids eating habits range from extremely picky....ie nothing with taste or color (plain pasta...gags) to will eat anything that wont eat her first,lol. So theres no restraurant thats going to satisfy everyone everyday. This will be the kids first time at WDW and our 5th ,we have a list of possibles and are planning on using the dining plan,free or not,to me its just the convience of not having to worry about cost ect, I digress.
The list we have so far include 50's Prime Time,Sci-Fi, Chef Mickeys (dinner) Le Cellier ,San Angelo Inn, Crystal Palace(chtr brkfst, dd # 3 is insane over Pooh) and Planet Hollywood. Its been 10 years since we've been to disney, are these good choices and I need a couple of more suggestions ?
Im sure theres been thousands post on this, sorry . Also we are going to be able to do reservations by aug 29 and my wifes other sister, husband and son are considering coming as well, is it possible to alter reservations later on some meals if they finally decide to join?
On our last night were thinking something special Rain Forest ,House of Blues or the new T-Rex ,all non DP rest. but we just want something the kids would really enjoy for an atmospehere. We were doing ok until my wife found the food porn thread and it just all looks to good. I understand some airlines are charging for extra bags, hope they dont charge for extra pounds we might have to stay

You have some really good choices. I would consider something other than Planet Hollywood though. Our last experience there (last summer) wasn't particularly good (mediocre food, overly loud atmosphere and packed shoulder to shoulder when seated).

Whether you can change your ADRs to add extra people down the road depends entirely on whether the restaurants have the necessary availability when you call.

You could try making a separate reservation at each of the restaurants, for three people. If they decide to come, you can ask to be seated together each time you check in at a restaurant. If they choose not to come, you can cancel the smaller reservation as soon as the decision is made. And, um, you didn't ask but... you have one too many people for even the Family Suites.

You have a couple problems I am afraid. The family Suite at Music holds 6 people, not 7. Here is a link to info on the family suite

The second is Disney is making a major change to their reservation system.

Recent Dining Updates​

NEW DINING RESERVATION SYSTEM IN THE WORKS

Disney will begin implementing a new reservation system that combines dining, recreation and tour bookings.

The conversion will start on July 21, 2008 and is expected to be functioning on October 24. While this is taking place, the latest dining reservation date which can be booked in advance is January 25, 2009. Once the new system is operating, it will revert to the 180 day Advance Dining Reservation window.

The exceptions to the shortened ADR booking window are Cinderella's Royal Table, Chef Mickey's and Victoria & Albert's.​

The good news is you have lots more time to plan your reservations and maybe the in-laws will know by then is they are coming.'

When you can make your reservations, I would book them as their own party. If they come, great! If not, you can just cancel theirs and not worry about impacting yours. You may or may not be seated near them, so you may want to make a couple for the full party. Hopefully, they will have made up their minds by the time the rebooking window reopens.

By then too we should have any info on potential changes to the DDP for 2009

Just wanted to say it looks like you have some good choices.

I love Crystal Palace - We go every time we're in the MK.

I'm trying Restaurant Akershus for the first time this year so my 10yr old DD can meet the princesses. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with characters who can talk.

You will get varying opinions on Sci-Fi and San Angel but our family enjoys both. We love the atmosphere of both. When you make ADR for Sci-Fi make sure you request a car for the kids at least. They seat six.

I would always choose HOB if it were all adults but, if you have kids with you I would choose Rain Forest Cafe - My kids love it. I do not know anything about T-Rex.

Finally, I think I would encourage everyone to decide one way or the other if they are going or not so that you can make dining plans for such a large group. If you make ADRs with less you may call back and not be able to have that same reservation with more people. I think the size of your party will affect the times available to you. And, treating them as a second party is a good idea as well. It would just aggravate me if I was taking on making all the ADRs and someone in my party could not decide whether they were joining us or not.

Some suggestions for your kids in mind:

Coral Reef - view aquarium plus you can have personalized menu made - great dessert for the kids

Whispering Canyon - fun for the kids - go to smores roast afterwards with CHip and Dale

1900 Park Fare or Princess Storybook dining - character dining for the girls

Thanks for the input, Planet Hollywood Id heard wasnt what it once was,I should have known this as I wouldnt recomend the Myrtle Beach location but have had good luck at the Disney one.Whispering Canyons sounds good but is it a 2DDP ? The Sci-Fi we've never done before but the kids will love the atmosphere and San Angelo ,well theyll hate it but I LOVE mexican so it suxs to be them for one meal,lol.

Indecision drives me insane however I realise its a large financial comitment to to make to do Disney. Having said that I think Ill book our adrs for at least those that are comitted ,for everything that I'm able to .Le Cellier and Chef Mickeys were the 2 I was most concerned about and Chef Ms is exempt from the reservations restrictions so thats a plus.

When you ask if Wispering Canyon is a 2DDP, do you mean 2 credits on the dining plan? If so....it's only 1 TS credit . One (of many) of our favorites is Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. It is a character buffet (characters at breakfast only) and it's a fun place as the characters are dressed in beach clothes . The Cape May Clambake (dinner buffet) is great as well (although no characters). The buffet has plenty of variety (not all seafood) so there's plenty to choose from and even the pickiest of eaters will find things to eat . We also like Boma at the AKL.......again great buffet with plenty of variety . I also agree with other posters to make your ADRs separate from the other family so if they decide not go, you can cancel their's and still have your ressies . Good luck and happy planning .

I don't think you can make a request for a car when you make an ADR, but be sure to ask when you check in at the podium. We think the food is "ok" at the Sci-Fi, but the atmosphere is awesome! Have a great trip!
