need advice on the best video camera

I am about to buy a new video camera, but I wanted some opinions. I was thinking of buying the Sony DVD, so I could just play the DVD in my player. I would like a small easy to use camera.

We have the small Sony that used the DVD. Cant remember what style it is

I'm happier that I stuck with the Sony mini-DV. I've heard and read repeatedly, over the last few months, how mini-DV is a far better medium for long-term storage of video than DVDs.
