While we were packing up our auto at VB I noticed an area on the front hood of my car that appeared to be dark reddish dirt. Now understand I am from Georgia and it looked like Georgia clay I thought no big deal I will wash it when we get home. This occured in the underground parking where my car had been parked all week.

Upon returning home we washed it and whatever it was took the paint off of my car. I called a few people who deal with aotumobile paint and they asked could it have been rusty water. Well there are pipes and things in that parking area. So do I even bother to call VB's management? I know it occured there because I had the car detailed prior to leaving for the 10 day trip and it is an obvious area that we noticed the moment we laid eyes on it.

For those who will question why I didn't say something before leaving, well thats simple, I thought it was something harmless that would wash off no harm no foul. But that is not the case.

Wouldn't hurt to call the resort and ask to speak to the manager. Even if they won't reimburse you for the repair (I suspect your comprehensive coverage on your auto insurance will cover the damage), at least they will be made aware of the problem and where it is occurring. Can't repair/fix something they don't know about. Future guests will owe you a debt of gratitude.

Sorry that happened to you.

Best wishes -

I'm not questioning anything, I just don't think I understood what you said happened. Tell me if I'm right, while parked at VB (never stayed there, so maybe that's why I don't understand) rusty water got on your car and took the paint off. That doesn't sound very confusing now that I typed it out. You think that the rusty water came frompipes near where the car was parked , right? Whatever happened, sorry it caused damage, always a pain to deal with.

At VB you can park under ground in the parking garage. There are pipes, duct work hanging from the ceiling of parking garage. We just stayed there this past Easter, we drive a full size conversion van and we just made it thru with out the top of the van hitting the pipes. The only thing that hit was my white mickey mouse rabbit car topper :sad2: it was black by the time we left :sad2: . DH thought it was funny :sad2:

I am sorry to hear this happened and thank you for warning us. I would call VB and let them know where you where parked and let them fix the problem.
I would have been very upset and even more so if it was a rental car, either way i would be upset that i would have had to pay for it to be fixed.
good luck and please let us know what happened. :wizard:

I would definitely let them know what happened - maybe others have had the same problem. If not, VB will then know they need to look at the area under the buildings.

We stopped parking underground after our rental car was hit -- no note from anyone. Since we didn't use the car the whole time we were there it had to have happened there. Since then, we've parked in the above ground areas and have been much happier.

I'm sorry this happened to you -- not the way you want to remember your trip to VB.
