NEED Advice on getting to MK for fireworks

We have young kids, 3 & 5 and did the unthinkable last month --- called it a day at 2pm. (Beautiful and light crowds but we are wimps.) We are going back in early March and I like to get to parks early since we are up early anyway but cannot seem to make it until the fireworks or even afternoon parades. I was thinking of hitting AK on a Sunday and then breaking from 2-5. I'd like to get back to MK on the same day to utilize the park hopper option knowing we can't last til evening on a day we choose to do MK right off. We are staying offsite. Any tips for a way to dash into MK for a couple of hours (maybe by visiting a resort and grabbing some dinner first?). Looking to make transportation relatively smooth and not too time consuming for the toddlers and possibly cranky husband. Would it even be worth it since crowds are bad b/c of extra magic hour on Sunday? Thank you.

Are you going to break at your offsite hotel or take a break by relaxing elsewhere? We are not early risers so staying up for the later attractions might have been easier for us but what if you took the whole morning off and just hung out at your hotel, went swimming, napped. Perhaps get a Chef Mickey's ressie for dinner (early dinner - 5 or 6 pm?) then go on to the MK and enjoy it there for the rest of the evening. (Or arrive at the MK early enough to catch an afternoon parada and have dinner at Crystal Palace or elsewhere on the grounds). I guess whether or not to go to AK in the morning depends on how far it is to get back to your hotel and rest at least for me.

I would think folks who used the EMH on Sunday are not still at the park that night - unless of course they used it, went back to the hotel to rest, and come back in the evening. No doubt fireworks nights are more crowded.

We have 2 young kids and we certainly did things I wouldn't do if we were all adults (like using our park tickets for shorter stays!), but if it keeps everyone happy then so be it!

We would come back to the hotel room for a bit and definately would do some park in the morning. I have never been to the Poly resort but notice they have a restaurant that does not require PS (Kona cafe). Would we be able to park at the resort, eat dinner when they open at 5, monorail over to MK around 5:30 ----- hang out and find a spot to watch the fireworks (park closes at 7pm) and then monorail back to Poly to get our car and leave? I would think we could do that in the alloted 3 hours we could get on a parking pass but no telling what aspects I might be missing. Is this a reasonable plan or does anyone have recommendations or other tips? Also, if you end up in a resort parking lot for 4 hours instead of 3, do you really get towed? Thanks.

Are you staying at a Disney resort? We have NEVER had a problem with parking at another resort when we've had our Disney parking pass in the windshield. They just wave us on through. Even without the pass, when I've told them we want to look around (or eat or whatever) they've asked to see my driver's license and then waved us on through. I don't think you'll have a problem.
