Need advice on changing resorts

My DH and I have have reservations at CSR in December. We just found out that he has to have knee surgery when we get home from our trip. CSR is a really big resort and spread out, and now I'm thinking that I should change our reservations and stay at POFQ which is a lot smaller. We might end up having to rent a scooter. I requested building 9B, but am afraid it will be too much walking if we don't get that building. I really want to stay at CSR. It looks so beautiful. Any advice on what to do would really help. Also, does anyone know if a scooter can go on the friendship boats that go from the boardwalk to MGM?

Stay where your heart wants to I believe, and I may be mistaken, but I think all places are able to access with a scooter....Have a wonderful trip

I agree, stay where you really want to stay! I think POFQ is a lovely resort, but if I had my heart set on CSR I would stay put. Even if you get put in a room far away, there is the internal shuttle.

It may help staying at CSR since they do not share buses like POFQ.

Depending on the water levels, a scooter/ECV can usually be accommodated on the Friendship boats. If his knee is giving him problems, an ECV rental from offsite might be the best thing. Walking at WDW is usually much more than the average person walks at home.

When making your room requests, just let them know that your dh is having surgery and will need to be in a room that is closer, rather then further, to a bus stop/main bldg. My dh went to WDW before his knee surgery and he was miserable. We stayed at POP and he hated every minute of it. I truly think the walking to our room colored his feelings that trip.

Thanks everyone for your replies. He doesn't want the scooter, but it's so much walking, I'm sure we'll be renting one.
