OK, in November I booked our June stay at the BLT and VWL(first stay since buying DVC) I scheduled us to leave on Saturday June 12th and stay until June 21st . We have four kids, the oldest was set to graduate from high school on June 4th. Well, all the snow we have gotten (totally unusual for our area) has forced cancellation after cancellation and right now we are looking at a June 11th graduation date IF there are no more cancellations (with the rest of Feb and March still to come, who knows what that could bring)
What is still unknown at this point is if the state will grant our district and exemption from the 180 days due to the state of emergency declared in PA during the first big storm. if that's the case, we are ok, but we have no way of knowing yet. The district could also decide to allow the seniors to graduate still on the 4th and continue school for the rest of the kids until they reach the 180 days. If that were to happen, I would just take a few vacation days (allowed by our district, although we never have done it) for the kids and go on time. All this is a big if though, and I don't know when I will know for sure what will happen.
So, here's the question. We still have 283 points available come June 1, should I extend our stay, adding days on now at whatever resort I can (hopefully BLT or VWL, but who knows) and then cancel the days I don't need once I know for sure? What happens to those points if I do cancel some of the days on the reservation? Or should I just wait out the storm and see what happens and then make adjustments as needed. I am just worried about what will be available still if I have to wait till April to know for sure.
Am I even making any sense? I may not be because my kids have been home for nearly two weeks straight and insanity is not a far drive
Thanks for any help and advice you can offer!
