Hi everyone!

Well, for MANY different reasons, DH and I are almost ready to cancel the cruise we have booked for June 2003. Instead, we're considering Disney World for mid-July, just the two of us.

As some of you might recall, DH and I had planned to go to Disney World a year ago, just the two of us, staying at the Wilderness Lodge, last December... but I got chicken after the plane crashed in NYC in November,(not referring to Sept 11), so I cancelled that trip.

NOW, I am thinking about replanning that trip for next summer, July 2003. I haven't been to Disney World in the month of July in about 20 years, and we didn't stay onsite that time.

So......I am wondering if there are ever any discounts for the rooms for July?? We are considering either the Wilderness Lodge, OR, since I love CBR so much, staying there, so I can check out the new food court and restaurant, to update my web site! :teeth: I would love to stay at the Polynesian this time, but I have promised my DSs that I won't stay there until our family trip to WDW, possibly in 2004.

Also, am I imagining things, or are the room rates on the official Disney web site LOWER for 2003 than for 2002????

Any and all info about staying onsite in the month of July would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! :)

No you aren't imagining it. Some prices are lower in 2003 then they were in 2002.

WL value season doesn't begin until August 23rd. So July is still regular season if that makes a difference.

In 2002 there were some great specials for the summer. I remember the specials were out in May.

Hi Seaspray,
We were down in July '01...had the BEST time! The rates changed on July 4th, we got CR for 134 wing room! I believe AKL did the same this past summer. Watch mousesavers as these reductions popped up about a month or so B4 July 4th. We really loved CR, but some of the mod's were also participating in code, but not all. I sure wish we were going back next summer. Have a blast...I loved the parks staying open late...MK 'till 1 a.m. on the 4th! Gotta love that...especialy since this is sans little ones!

Hi
We stayed at CBR in late July this past year. We got a great deal on our room and really loved the CBR. I would like to check out the rennovations there myself now too.
It was really HOT and really humid when we went. But I was surprised how the crowds really weren't bad and Epcot was very uncrowded and we really enjoyed that a lot. We had a fabulous time - so much that we are going again this year in April.
Take lots of water and buys some of those self misting personal fans - they were a godsend (I got a couple cheap at Wal Mart prior to our trip) and used them a lot!!
Have fun!!!!

If I remember correctly code rates were about the same as they are now , maybe 10 dollars less. But June was really hard ito get a discout last summer. The rates for July did come out early, April or Early May. I think Mary has a "historic rates" area on Mousesavers.

SeaSpray,
We visit WDW every year in July, and love it! We find that the heat is really no worse than home in NJ, and many times it has actually been cooler in Fl. than at home.

The deluxe resorts begin their value season on July 4th, and there are usually some good discounts from that point on. I'm not too sure about the moderates though, and AKL and WL have a different season schedule. If you have any other questions about going in July, let me know! :teeth:

SeaSpray, I haven’t been to WDW in July yet, but am considering it as a possibility for next year. If I go through with it, I’m not sure what resort I would pick, but I think my number one criteria will be a resort with a large swimming pool complex. I can imagine that the resort pools get crowded when the heat becomes too much in the theme parks. We stayed at WL during Easter Break a few years ago and even though we enjoyed the resort, we felt that its swimming pool was too small (CM’s were actually “carding” everyone at the pool to make sure that only WL guests were swimming there at that time, it was such a zoo). Because of that fact, I will make sure to stay away from resorts with small pool complexes.

Thanks everyone, for your comments and input on going to WDW in July! Since it will just be DH and I, I think we'll be alright, and be able to alter our plans to keep cool and take swimming breaks when we need to.

janet2k: I know what you mean about the pools. I was thinking of this same thing, and that's another reason why we are leaning towards CBR right now; in addition to the main pool, there are 6 other pools, each one in the midst of the groupings of buildings and this helps a lot with the crowds at the main pool. Let me know which resort you're thinking of going to!

Have a good time :) It will be HOT HOT HOT:) Make sure you have a place where the pool is cool!!!

Janet2K,
We were at WDW last July and stayed at the Dolphin. The Grotto pool is fantastic and HUGE. There is also a lap pool and another pool. The good thing (especially since it's just you and your husband)is there were NOT a lot of children running around the pool. The location of the Dolphin is great too. Makes it easy to take those afternoon breaks. The only problem was afternoon rains kept us from using the great pool area on many days.
