We are trying to plan a trip for early January. It will be myself and DH, my mother in law (who has never been to Florida) and our childern, 11, 9, 7, 5.

We are planning about 6-7 nights. 4 or 5 days at Disney and 2 days at Us. We are excited to see WWOHP. We would prefer not to do a split stay at Disney and US.

We will fly in, and I would like to NOT have to lease a car unless we have to.
We want to stay at TreeHouse Villas on Disney property and use DME to get from/to the airpot.

So, my question is....What is the best way for us to get to Universal? How much will it cost for transportation for 7 people?

Thanks so much!

You could rent a towncar for around $150 or so for each roundtrip. $300 for both days.

That said, I would prefer the flexibility of just renting a minivan. In fact, I would do it for the entire stay, as I'm not a fan of the Disney bus service from the TreeHouse Villas area.

You have to take a bus from your villa to Saratoga Springs, then transfer to the bus to your theme park.

Really? I didn't know that about the Tree House Villas. Almost sounds like the campground. Internal bus in the campground takes you to a bus to go to the parks. If we had a van, could we drive from the Villas Area and park at Saratoga Springs to catch a bus to the parks? We love Disney Transportation. We like the idea of being somewhere without having a car. Weird, I know. We feel like transportation for all our visits has been great, but I know that some resorts can be more of a problem than others. My kids love riding the bus and boats. But, a town car for that much money for two days would be ridiculous.

Are there any cheaper options that you know of? I am wondering how much a van would be for two days. Doesn't Saratoga or OKW have car leasing?

You can rent a car at several places in Disneyworld. I suggest you read this:

It will probably cost around $150 to rent a minivan for 2 days, but you should shop around and look for deals. January is a slow time and you can likely do better.

As for the bus service at Treehouse, it works, but you will spend more time on the bus and waiting for the bus than at other resorts. Treehouse is pretty secluded, which means more transportation time if you're not driving.

I called my friend who recently stayed in the treehouse villas with a group that had the same number of kids about the same ages and she said that it was really inconvenient with the transportation that disney provided and they really did not enjoy the accommodations. She recommended looking into an offsite condo and renting a van for the week. She said that next time she has already booked a condo for the week for what they spent on lodging at disney for a nights. I recently booked a 3br 3 ba condo on vrbo that is 5 minutes from disney! I got the whole week for around $400 which is a really good deal. With the money that we are saving we are going to be able to do allot more than we would have been able to.
;) I hope this helped! Good luck with everything! =)

Thanks so much, that is exactly what I was thinking. I think because we want to do US this time, maybe it should be an offsite trip. I just really wanted to give my MIL the disney magic of being onsite. Oh well, she probably won't really care anyway. I will check out VRBO. :) I know they have great options.
