First time poster. I'm currently buying BCV site unseen. (Stayed at BW Inn in '99). We have three young children, and we've already started mapping out trips with friends.

In 2005, we'll likely take a family similar to ours with us. That's four adults, and six kids, ranging in age from 4 to 9. Yes, they're over the age of three, but still quite small. Can someone come out and tell me that it's okay to put all of us in a 2BR? Even if we get another studio, you're separating some of the kids away from their parents. We can easily fit in a 2 BR. Will they let us?

I've learned from your boards that room occupancy is a very sensitive issue, and straightforward answers are scarce. It's the only issue I've found on this board where people don't feel free to speak their mind.

Why is everyone so afraid? I don't understand.

Wait...there's a knock on my door.

OH DEAR GOD! IT'S THE DISNEY SPECIAL OPS UNIT! MICKEY, BUZZ, AND BELLE DRESSED IN BLACK WITH NIGHT VISION GOGGLES! THEY HEARD I WAS TALKING ABOUT ROOM OCCUPANCY AND THEY'RE TEARING DOWN THE DOOR!

AAAHHH!!!

TELL MY WIFE I LOVE...

We have taken over CVW's computer. Consider this a warning to all of you from the Disney Special Ops. Anyone dare to talk about room occupancy? Next time we won't knock.

Sincerely,

Belle, in behalf of the DSO

No. It is not okay. According to your contract, room occupancy for a 2BR is 8 people and 1 child under the age of 3. That is about as direct an answer as I can give you. This thread will probably be closed since occupancy discussion tend to get heated, and aren't allowed on this board.

Welcome to the DIS boards! Unfortunately, your first post is bound to be locked soon, because we are not allowed to discuss room occupancy on this board. That would be reserved for the Debate Board, because this topic has strong opinions on both sides and arguments get heated and personal.

The straightforward answer that you requested is that DVC rules allow 8 people in a 2BR. Allowances are made for children under three to exceed that number....but that does not apply in your case.

Good luck...and post again on another topic and you'll find us quite willing to share thoughts and opinions! :)

I would call member services or your guide and ask them this question.

CVW,

The Debate Board is under the heading "Just For Fun" on the DISboards homepage.

Is it against the stated occupancy policy? ..... Yes.

Will Disney stop you from doing it or evict you from the room? ..... No.

As an adult with a mind of your own, it is up to you how you proceed from here. That's as simple and direct as it's gonna get.

I'm pretty surprised that this thread has lasted even this long without being locked. But while it's still unlocked, I just wanted to welcome you to these boards and congratulate you on your upcoming BCV purchase. You'll LOVE being a DVC member and planning lots of great trips. Hope to see more of you around these boards! :D

Everyone is very sensitive over this subject - we are a family of 5 with "issues" over room occupancy as well. In the end, we decided we are more comfortable with a bed for everybody anyway and like the extra space for all of us. Can you get a Grand Villa for all of you maybe by banking or borrowing points?

Funny post, it's one of the better ones that I've read! Keep the great sense of humor. Enjoy your new home at BWV. Good Luck!

People aren't afraid to discuss room occupancy, it is simply a topic that the forum admins has decided is best left to discuss on a more appropriate forum. The discussion ALWAYS becomes very heated here.

The answer is very simple. The room you have reserved has a stated occupancy of 8 + 1 under age 3. Disney does not (as of yet) kick people out for occupancy overages. You are aware of the rules, it is up to you if you adhere to them or not. Only you know if 10 people in that size room will be comfortable for you. You will only have dishes, towels and beds for 8.. Arguments on value judgements tend to be referred to the Debate board. I do have to agree with the previous posters though. Your post brought a smile to my face, it was pretty amusing. ;)

Ten people (even though six are kids) will be awfully cramped in a 2 bedroom.

Go for the Grand Villa - you won't regret it.
