Due to other plans of family members, only my 12 year old daughter and myself will be spending spring break at Universal (staying at the Royal Pacific.) I'll be turning 50 :scared1: on this trip and need a recommendation for a restaurant for my birthday dinner. It doesn't have to be fancy-just good and fun. Parks or resorts-doesn't matter. Thanks.

OP, what is your definition of "good food" ?

We HATE margaritaville food! :scared: But love Tchoup Chop at the RPH. So it really depends on what you like to eat.

I love Tchoup Chop but the OP requested "fun" and I would be hard pressed to call TC's atmosphere fun.

Margaritaville has good food and a great atmosphere if you're a Jimmy Buffett fan.

Texas-de-Brazil is a great Brazillian style, all you can eat steakhouse. Its on International Drive not far from Universal at all.

Cafe Tu-Tu-Tango is a neat little restaurant that serves appetizer sized portions and encourages you to share yours with everyone else at the table and vice versa. This is a good place and neat experience.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse specializes in hibachi style cooking, meaning they cook in front of you. Great food and is always a fun night out.

All of these, with the exception of Margaritaville, are on International Drive. (Obviously Margaritaville is in CityWalk in Universal). I would recommend any one of these to you with complete comfort knowing you would enjoy any of them. Hope this helps!

Thanks. We don't plan to have a car or leave the campus.

I agree that fun is where & what you make of it but when a poster comes here looking for suggestions for a fun dinner, we may be leading them astray by suggesting TC. If on the other hand, someone is completely familiar with TC, they can certainly have a good time there and certainly good food.

Every year I do my birthday diner at Benihana (same as Kobe) - it's definitely a "Fun" night especially when you get your chef drunk along with the rest of the party ;)

Kobe is right across the street too - so here's 1 more vote for Kobe :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. We have Kobe Steaks, Tejas de Brazil and the Palm here, so I'll probably try something new at Universal.
