My Dh and I want to take our youngest two kids back to Disney already. I guess it's addictive. We can do it for under $2,00 including airfare and the dining plan and really want to. I already Have a job on weekends in the winter but it pays for heat. I just started a photography thing but I don't think I'll make enough to buy it all in time. i know the airfare will go up before then and we will not use a credit card unless it's an emergency and this doesn't qualify. This will be the last spring that our DS is free and we want to make the most of it.

I know, if making a quick $2,00 was really available, everybody would be doing it! :genie:

Okay I don't know of a quick way to make two thousand dollars, but maybe if you get a night job waitressing or some other kind of part time night job (I am assuming you only work weekends because you've got your little guy at home and the hubby works during the week) and just put the money in a separate account as if you never had it, it will add up pretty quickly.

Good Luck!

Ebay, yard sale, part time job. Also cut out cable tv and eating out and put that money into your savings account instead.

Good luck! It can be done. We just ebayed our way to a 5 day trip to WDW - paid cash for everything. :)

I'm going to second waitressing. I did this for a long time for extra cash. Twice a week at Denny's. So, not even high end. I made an average of $100 in tips an 8 hr shift. Granted this Disney is always busy, but not bad.

My sister waitresses once a week at a local sports bar for fish fry's. She usually pulls $150 in tips for a 5 hour shift!!!

It would still take a month or two, but it's not a bad way to get started.

i have a friend who sells his plasma every time his wife wont let him buy something. :cool1:

You can make a lot on eBay- I just go through my closet and sell off clothes, shoes, purses and stuff that I don't really use. I'm sure your kids have clothes and toys that they don't use. What about any collectibles or things you have sitting around your house? Video games your kids don't play anymore, DVD's that you've watched and have no interest in watching again... Sometimes I even sell old WDW souvineers that I never used or that are sitting around collecting dust  :rotfl:

You could look into research studies in your area. I am doing a study right now for $1700. It's paying for my December trip. I don't know where you are from but you could check out GPGP.net. I found out about studies a couple of years ago and have done a few, wish I had known about them sooner!

So tell us how much does he get for his plasma? :confused3 It' might just be a little something I could and would do if I needed the money!!

Ther is nothing near me that is open late enough, I live in the middle of nowhere. I used to work in the city but gas ate up my paycheck and made it not worth it. Also most of my photography sitting will be in the evening and my DH is not always home at the same time and is on call 24/7 which means I'd have to have a very understanding boss when DH gets called to work overnight in another state and I can't go in.

I do have a few things ready for Ebay but feel it may be too late in the year. I have some ski's, girls school clothes, x-mas dresses, even some adult dresses. I was thinking of putting the ski's on Ebay this weekend. Do you think the girls clothes will still sell okay now ?

I don't know about the skis :) myself. I would list the xmas stuff though. Now is the time everyone is buying holiday clothes. Good luck:) Also, there are some threads around with telecommuting companies you may want to check out for some extra cash. Also you could find a niche in your area. I saw one lady on here was going to make and sell gift baskets. There's always something to be thought of :)

If you can't get work (for whatever reason) then try cutting your budget to the bare bone. Cut EVERYTHING not needed, cable, internet, eating out, clothes, grocieries (we've cut back on soda and that alone saves us about $40 a month, we brew our own ice tea now and only buy 1 case of soda every two weeks!). Cut back on driving to save on gas, turn the thermostat down as low as you can. In short spend money on NOTHING that is truely not needed, down to the $1 you spend on coffee in the morning at work.

If the weather is still nice in your area, instead of trying to sell on e-bay, have a garage or yard sale. This way you can sell big items like furniture as well as little stuff that you don't want anymore.

If you take an honest look at your budget and get real about what's really needed and what's a luxery, you should be able to come up with the money in very little time.

There is still plenty of time for the holiday clothing. I'd try to get them going within the next 2-3 weeks at most though. If the girls clothing is winter type clothing then by all means sell it. Those items are still selling. Particularly skirts, pants, tights, winter PJ's, and sweaters.

The OP said that she works an extra job to pay for heat. Call me crazy, but if you're having to take on a job to pay for a utility necessary to maintain life....well, it would imply that there aren't many places where the budget can be cut ;)

Sorry, but I agree with dvcgirl. I would love to go to Disney in Jan, but we have two kids in college and I just took a trip last Dec.

I know what you mean, but this isn't necessarily true. I know plenty of people who work overtime and take second jobs to keep up with the bills because they are living beyond their means and drive expensive cars and live in big houses filled with every luxury and toy you can think of. So the OP still may have plenty of things that could be cut to save money.

However, I share the concern that there could be other financial management issues. For example, do you have an adequate emergency fund? How about retirement or college savings, and debt besides your mortgage and car, etc?

I don't have any advice, but goodluck with your goal. :shamrock:

I know what you mean too Steve. I also know plenty of people living beyond their means, but that's generally because there's so much excessive spending going on. If they stopped the excessive spending, they'd pull out of debt and be fine. It brings us back to one of our favorite topics around here....wants vs. needs. It boggles my mind to read a paragraph where one is asking for advise on how to save for Disney and mentions that they work a second job to pay for *heat*. Talk about the two extremes here. Heat is a very big need, and Disney is a huge want.

I'd be willing to bet a whole lot of money that a person who has to take on a job to pay for the heat probably isn't saving a whole lot.

Of course I could be very wrong. I guess, in theory it is possible for someone to have all of their financial ducks in a row and then take on a second job to pay for heat. It's just not likely. I guess my point is that if one is *not* saving for retirment/college, has no emergency fund and has to take on a second job to pay for heat....well, then a Disney vacation should probably not make the list of priorties.

Long stretch but their finacial situation could be just fine... I don't think it is fair to judge and assume without knowing.

As far as making $2000 really quickly good luck and if you do do it let me know how... most of us can always use extra money. :earboy2:

You are right...their situation could be fine. It's just not very often that you hear a person say that they work a second job to pay for their heat. Think about it, how odd it would be for a person to have all of their finances in order...and speak in those terms.

Major bills...check
Retirement savings....check
College savings....check
Groceries.....check...
Necessary spending allowance....check

Now if I could only pay for that darned heat. lol...it just strikes me as odd. But you are correct, the OP could very well be loaded for all I know.

What about babysitting an extra child or two during the day to earn some extra money?
