Hi. I just won an auction and checked the shipping price several times before bidding (I have trust issues :rotfl: ) and again after bidding and it said $8.40 for Priority Mail to my zip code. I just got the invoice and it is stating that shipping is $10.40 now. I checked it after that and it still says $8.40. This was a calculate shipping link, so I'm all worried that if she tries to argue with me I will have no proof. Does anyone know anything about this? Can she go and change it after the auction is closed, or will I always have that link to back me up? (I did send her a polite email letting her know about the discrepancy and I don't really see why she would argue it, but JIC... like I said, I have trust issues! :earboy2: ) This has all happened in the last five minutes or so, so it's too soon to tell what will happen. Is there a way for me to save the link that I have now or anything? Thanks for your help!

ETA- The only real reason I'm worried is because it might have sold for less than they were anticipating, but who knows... They have a pretty good feedback score- 254 and 99.6%

Another edit- They now have the exact same item listed again and they didn't have it when I won about 45 minutes ago (I checked to see if they might have something else I needed...). The shipping total still comes to $8.40. It just seems weird to me, but I'm tired and probably overthinking it.

You can take a screen shot by holding down 'alt' and pressing 'prnt Scrn' then pasting into an email. It sounds like they added a handling charge into the total. Was there anything about handling on the auction?

Did she add in insurance? Some people require it. She could have added a handling charge but should have clearly stated that in the shipping BEFORE your bid.

If she argues what you will have to go through with ebay will cause more than 2.00 worth of aggrivation IMHO so weigh that out if things start to go badly.

It also could just be she hit one key and meant another.

Nope, nothing about a handling charge. I thought that would have to be included in the shipping quote anyway, if one was given? I'll take a screen shot, thanks.

It said insurance was not offered. I'll post a link in a sec... I can't seem to take a screen shot, I'm going to try again though.

hmm..the invoice should be made automatically from eBay. Does eBay have your correct zipcode?

Here is the item number if it helps... 7713950800. ebay should have my correct zip code, I know PayPal does and even if not, it wouldn't be more than 10 miles away, and in the same county so the shipping cost wouldn't change. (I checked that too just now, JIC and the price is the same no matter what zip code ebay may have)

I asked only because I had a buyer who had the wrong zipcode with eBay. Her Paypal address was correct, but her ebay wasn't and that was what the shipping was based on. She wasn't happy with me, thinking I changed her shipping, when it was all done automatically. I ended up refunding her payment, and rebilling her direct with me putting in the correct shipping. Until she fixes her zipcode, it will continue to happen. Sometime a seller isn't going to get enough money, and then it will be a mess.

Other that for that reason, I have no answer. Hopefully you'll hear from the seller, with an explanation.

Another way to handle it would be to go ahead and send Paypal payment, but enter the $2 discrepancy in the "seller's discount" box (be sure to put a negative in front so it will subtract and not add). Then, if she asks about it, and she may not, you can just say you assumed the invoice was incorrect since a different shipping price was quoted when you bid.

Do you think that will cause problems? I'd rather wait it out, who knows what she'll say. Hopefully she'll respond soon...

Have you tried contacting the seller and asking about the discrepancy before paying? I had a similar issue recently - the shipping price was the same but the auction stated shipment via Priority Mail and the invoice stated Media Mail. I wasn't paying the same for Media Mail as they quoted for Priority so I e-mailed the seller and they admitted it was their Paypal mistake.

I know you stated that the listing said "insurance not offered", but did you double-check the invoice to make sure that it's not showing up on there as an additional charge?

I contacted the seller immediately after receiving the invoice but haven't heard back yet. The invoice doesn't list insurance, only shipping and the item.
