I'm looking to replace my bag vacuum with a canister one. Preferably one that can handle pet hair and won't break the bank. Any suggestions?

I got a Hoover Wind tunnel P.A.W.S last year I really like it. and I think it was around 129.

Well, I have a Eureka Boss vacuum that I love (although it is really heavy). It has a HEPA filter. I've had my model for almost 6 years now and haven't even had to replace the belt or anything. It isn't bagless, though.

If I could purchase a new vacuum, I would buy the Shark Navigator Lift Away. It is right around $200 I believe and has great reviews (for several years). Most people like it better than their Dysons and said that they vacuumed first with their Dyson, and then with their Shark Navigator Lift Away and the Shark picked up so much that the Dyson left behind. Dysons aren't actually rated very well in Consumer Reports and I agree.

Edited to add: Oops, I'm sorry. I didn't see that you are looking for a canister vacuum. In my opinion no canister vacuum will work even nearly as well as an upright. Sorry I can't help.

We have 5 kids, their numerous friends, 3 cats, and 3 dogs...the St. Bernard leaves fur balls everywhere...we have both a Dyson and a Shark...love both, but for different reasons.

Love the Shark, both the cost and the way it works...also very lightweight!

Love the Dyson, works wonderfully, but very heavy and expensive, but it works like nothing I have ever seen!!

I just bought an Electrolux from Costco for $200. I had to spend that much because $100 vacuum cleaners weren't doing the job. My cleaning lady was so excited using it LOL. She said it's better than the $500 Dysons she was using. I figure she knows her stuff:)

We recently bought a Hoover WindTunnel canister, and all I can say is my old vacuum wasn't doing too much. One vacuuming once a week fills the thing with enough fur to build another cat. Got it from Amazon with free shipping (Prime). Cost was $220.

i love my dyson. i vacuum at least once a day because we had 2 great danes in a small condo and i don't like hair at all. it's held up to a LOT of use and abuse. its the only vacuum i've ever had that comes apart so completely and easily for cleaning or fixing(i sucked up a nail once and put a hole in the hose). i've never had one break on me which i can't say for the other poor sad vacuums i've had before. once every 6 months i pull the whole thing apart and 409 and hot water wash all the pieces and it's like new again.

I have a Hoover Elite Rewind & it does a really good job. We have 3 dogs & I use it every day!

I love my Dyson! I have the animal one, it's several years old and still works as good as it did on day one.
