I would like to get a reservation for lunch at a MK monorail resort restaurant. problem is, we have never eaten at any of them! A character meal would be okay but is there a restaurant that has a really good view? A really good atmosphere? I've read about Chef Mickey's and O'hana but don't really want something loud and crazy. California Grill would be great but it's only for dinner.

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

or Kona are your best bet. Character meals are almost always loud and I don't believe either Ohana or Chef Mickey's has a lunch offering.

i'd have to agree with the previous poster. i've been to both the GF cafe, and the Kona cafe for lunch. both are nice, and really great atmospheres. i can't tell you which one i prefer, because they're both a little different. although, i did go to Kona 3 times for lunch on my last trip.

As the others said, Kona or GFC.

Kona Cafe is in the lobby and the view is out over the lobby, plus there are some windows that face out towards the monorail loading area. The atmosphere is nice if you like the relaxed Polynesian theme, and there is a waterfall in the lobby that adds to the ambience.

Grand Floridian Cafe has windows that look out to the garden/courtyard area of the resort. If you like the style of the GF over the Poly choose here.

Either way, you are good, I think.

Can you see the castle/MK from the windows in the lobby?

I don't think so, in either the GF or Poly. At the GF, in order to see the castle, you need to walk around to over by the marina / Gasparilla's area. At the Poly, you can see the castle from 'Ohana, but that is only dinner.

Honestly, dinner is the meal to do if looking for a MK resort restaurant with nice views. 'Ohana at the Poly, Narcoosee's (sp?) at the GF, and California Grill at CR all have views of the castle. Of course, California Grill takes the cake for views on that list.

I am not sure when you're trip would be, but if it's before May 10, 2008 I would also think of trying the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary before it closes. Obviously May 10, 2008 is the day it's closing. Anyway it's a very good place to eat with fair prices and has great atmosphere. Even though it's located next to Chef Mickey's you don't hear much coming from there and the only time you might is every half hour when they have the napkin waiving. Although I have found the times when that happens it's not loud at all.

Another vote for Kona. Personally, I don't think it has great atmosphere, but the food is excellent.

I vote for Kona also. At first glance, the openness of the restaurant had me nervous as there is only a 1/2 wall to separate it from the upper balcony/walkway. However, it felt very comfortable in there and the food...best we had in 10 days, bar none. We really enjoyed it with our party of 13 and only 3 of us later.
