Need a little BC reassurance, please

This post made me chuckle because I’m pretty much in the opposite of your situation! I just changed my Beach Club reservation to the Poly because I got a steak of an AP discount and I’m so nervous we won’t like it as much as BC/YC. (My brother saw the change in reservation on the app and sent me a text that said “you gave up walking to Epcot during F&W?!”) we love the boardwalk hotels and Stormalong Bay. We’ve stayed at CBR, CSR (Tower), AKL, & BC & YC. I do prefer YC because I like the laminate floors... but I know lots of others love carpet! There’s so much to do around the boardwalk.

Well We have been going to Disney every year as well since 1999. Like many on the Dis it’s our Happy Place. With that being said every year we would pick a new resort to mix things up a bit and to have new experiences. We stayed at every moderate, all the MK resorts, AKL, AOA, Fort Wilderness cabins and OKW. We tended to rank POLY and GF as our fave deluxe and CSR our fave moderate. Well that all changed in 2016 when we stayed at the BC for the first time! We absolutely loved it! The whole Broadwalk vibe and the Pool is the best bar none no comparison. In 2017 we tried the Yacht Club to switch it up as is our norm and now we are totally hooked and have stayed at the Yacht for the last 3 years and are booked for 2020. We prefer the Yacht club rooms, the fact that it’s first on and off on the buses and better access to SAB on that side. You really can’t go wrong with either though. I’ve stayed at most that Disney has to offer and YCBC are the best!

The Sunken Treasure was removed from the menu at Hurricane Hanna's for several years but has recently returned to the bar menu at HH and several other pool bars at other Disney resorts.

1 1/2 shots Midori
1 shot Malibu Coconut Rum
1 shot orange juice
1 shot pineapple juice
Sprite or 7-Up to fizzy taste
1 shot Blue Curaçao
Over ice

@Jessica Geisler I'm laughing at your post because, well...I did the same thing. After I booked BC for our 2020 spring break trip, I did a lot of thinking. Our oldest DS is a complete shower hog, and while I felt like a new resort would be awesome, and BC totally fit the bill in terms of the pool, walkability to EP and HS, and the beach-y vibe, I couldn't get the Poly studio (with two showers) out of my head. So, I ultimately had my TA switch us to the Poly.

@natebenma OMIGOSH! Thank you for your very informative post...your pics and info about the Sunken Treasure have me regretting my BC decision! Ugh! This drink looks amazing! While, I think ultimately we'll be fine at Poly and I'll do less hollering when getting my teenage boys out the door for rope drop (thanks to two showers) in the morning, my DH and I are definitely going to have to visit the BC for a Sunken Treasure (or two). Is Hurricane Hanna's the BC pool bar, or a separate lounge at BC?

Thank you all for your ringing endorsements of BC. We stayed at the Poly in a standard room back in 2013 (pre refurbishment) and we liked it, but we didn't love it. I'm hoping that the refurb, paired with a studio experience will make our experience more magical this time; I think the two showers will offer more family harmony for us, which is most important for this trip.

I think this means we'll just have to schedule another WDW trip so that we can experience all of the amazing things you folks have shared about the BC. To me, that's a win/win!

We stayed there last summer and I thought it was just okay, so will give what I thought was the good and the bad.

The location was fabulous--walking to epcot was heaven and I loved the boat to HS. The dining on site was also great for TS (we ate at Yacht club, cape may breakfast, and walked to Trattoria for the character breakfast there), but not great for counter service. I also felt myself missing the "wow" factor of the theming at the other deluxe resorts we stayed at--Beach club looked just "nice", but not terribly impressive or exciting for me. The rooms were also a bit bland and felt a little worn out even though they had a refurb not too long ago (I blame the light blue/white color scheme: it shows the wear more than darker tones). We were much more impressed with our the theming at GF, Poly, Wilderness Lodge, AKL, and Boardwalk when we stayed at those resorts. We have not yet stayed at the Yacht club, but even just from walking through its lobby I liked the theme much better than Beach Club's.

I also did not enjoy SAB as much as I thought I would, given we booked it because we love taking mid-day breaks and swim almost every day while at WDW. It was super crowded all the time, the sand in the sand pool is not comfortable to sit or walk on (really hard and grainy), the lazy river never had floats available and was very cold (in August!) and I did not love that you have to go outside the pool complex across the walking path to use the slide (hot cement and bare feet.... eek!). The other deluxe pools may not have been as elaborate as SAB, but they were well-themed and much less crowded, and actually felt bigger because they were more wide open as opposed to a series of interconnected smaller pool areas.

I would not book it again if there was another deluxe in my budget, but neither do I regret staying there. The location as I said was really nice and that is HUGE for me. And we really enjoyed the on-site TS meals.

***edited because I just saw the OP say they switched to the Poly. That would be my preference too, having stayed at both. Have a great trip!

We have stayed at OKW - two bedroom with extended family, AKL Kindani studio room, BCV studio room, AOA cars family suite, and BC standard view room ( I think we got a little pixie dust because it was one of the larger corner rooms facing the parking lot. - maybe a deluxe room). MY DD stayed at POR riverside which I have always wanted to stay in . We are planning on staying at BC in a standard club room in November. We waited a little late to book our upcoming tripand there just wasn't a lot available. I feel like I should have tried something new like WL or the Poly or go back toAOA because of the Room size, theming, and relatively small size of resort but I keep coming back to BC. I believe it's due to price, availability and location, location,location. we love being able to go to Epcot at night, see the boardwalk in the distance, take a ferry to Hollywood studios and enjoy the peacefulness of the entire resort . It just adds to the experience in a way that is hard to give up. Ideally a one bedroom at BCV would have bee the best option but there was no availability at last minute. The only negative I can find withBCV is the lack of counter Service options. The market place at BC is very limited. AKL KindaniQS options were slim too which can be a big deal when we are tired. We May need to bring some snacks for the room. Positives out way any negatives though. We have never had a trip we didn't love but some have
