Need a ladies point of view (or decorators)

Our rug goes all the way to the fireplace. It is a very thin rug that brings in all the colors in the room. Our walls are 1/2 sherwin Williams shiitake and 1/2 white - so the paint is lighter.

If you’re going to change out the rug, you could also consider something fun like a flower pattern. As long as the colors coordinate, it’s ok to play around with it.

TV is too high. It should be at eye level when sitting. Put TV on hinged bracket on wall adjacent to the fire place sited at correct height. (If it fits) Mirror or picture where TV currently is. When watching TV it can be swung out on the bracket and angled to suit where everyone is sitting , when not in use it folds neatly flat against the wall out of the way and unobtrusive. Move the chairs next to the fire place they add nothing and get rid of the sconces again clutter that is not adding anything to the room.
