A lot of them say I can't fit 5 in a room. The baby will be in our bed as she will not sleep in a pack and play so we gave ours away! Is this going to be a problem? I'm not booking 2 rooms!

If possible, I would suggest looking into Country Inns and Suite or Comfort Inn, We are traveling as a family of 6 (4 kids) and that's what we did when we drove down last March. Comfort Inn had a really great deal at 89$ a night for a suite (2 queen-size beds and a sofa-bed) as well as an all-can-eat self-serve type breakfast. We definitely enjoyed :goodvibes
Country Inn and suites was a little much more (115$ if I remember correctly) but there was a door between the bedroom and the "living room" and we got those amazing cookies...yummy! :thumbsup2

Have a nice trip!

Maybe I can help..I've been researching places to stay for the past 2 weeks for our 1st time driving. Have you researched any places, if so what towns are you looking at and maybe I can help?
Many websites will ask you the age of your kid's when you try to make the online ressie. You could click 2 adults and 2 kids and sneak the baby in...or try and find a place that allows 5...many of those offer a crib at no charge. Now I know you won't be using the crib but you need to select the crib online anyway to get the ressie to go through.
I used this site
https://wr.wyndhamrewards.com/WyndhamRewards/control/advanced_search?variant=
and this site
http://www.choicehotels.com/?sid=1BgUi.Ud5HtgGqxi.13
for my searches and it brings up a ton of places!

We're a family of 5. We've never had a problem finding a hotel on the road that could accomodate all 5 of us. Rollaways seem to be very common outside of Disney and typically no extra charge.

We always get the Roomsavers coupon fliers at the State welcome center and find a hotel from there.

So should I just not even put the baby on the ressie and just say 2 adults, 2 kids? We are looking at savannah, walterboro, florence.

Online, but when I put in the 2 adults and 3 kids, some are not asking me the ages of the kids and just saying no availability. But if I put 2 adults, 2 kids, suddenly rooms are available.

Call the hotel. If you talk to a person, they should be able to help you.

We are a family of 5 and we have stayed in the Springhill Suites and the Hampton inn off of exit 94 in Savannah. Both have 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa. For our drive down in Dec we are chosing to drive a little further and we are stopping in Brunswick, GA. There they had a Comfort Suites and a Country inn and suites that had 2 queen bed with sleeper sofa rooms.

I will only book rooms with that lay out. DH is a 6'5 and a bigger guy so there is no way we are both fitting in a double comfortably LOL. Plus its bad enough my girls are sharing a bed they would prefer if they didn't have to touch while doing it LOL. If you check out the 195 exit guide site it will tell you what chains are available at each exit and then I just check each one that we would b comfortable staying in to see what they offer as far as bed options. It would be nice if we knew that all Hamptons had 2 queens with a sleeper available but NOOOO.

A few times if we had a king bed with sleeper sofa i would just have the 3 kids sleep on the sofa and just mention the two kids. Some places have a 4 person min some do not due to fire regulations.

As a family of 6, we are huge fans of Residence Inns. They have 1 and 2 bedroom suites with full kitchens and 2 bathrooms. We always have really good service because they usually only get business travelers so they love having kids around. There are usually pools and basketball courts.

Some fire codes restrict the number of people in a room which is why the reservations system would be having issues with the information you put in. I would try hotels with suites - I know Staybridge has Studio rooms with a Queen or King bed, a Queen or Double Sleeper and you can bring in a rollaway without a problem - or two bedroom suites, similar to Candlewood (although Staybridge has free breakfast if that is important to you). A fellow IHG employee has posted her friends and family code on the board that you may want to look into to see if you can get a better deal. Good Luck!

We really like Country Inn and Suites. There isn't one in Walterboro, but there is one in Orangeburg, a little bit up the road from there. Two queen beds, living room and usually a decent breakfast with eggs.

We like the Springhill Suites in Florence, too. That doesn't have a separate living room, but it is a "studio" with two beds and a sofabed.
