Need a cheap crockpot.

my local goodwill has oodles of them, and I would buy a used one (in fact, some of the used ones are better than new becuae they don't cook as hot as the new ones) I would for sure want to get one with a removable crock.

You can buy a decent size one new for less than $30, my goodwill sells used ones for about $8

If you can wait, it would be a great thing to ask for when people say "what can I get your for Christmas, birthday, etc"
That's my new thing, when I think I need to go out and buy something. I know my mom, sister etc are going to get me something even if I say "nothing". Might as well get something I need that I don't necessarily want to buy
Last year I desperately needed pots and pans. So I asked each family member to get me a specific sauce pan/pot etc I was wanting. Wound up with a whole new set instead of a bunch of slippers

I just broke my 25+ year old crock-pot a few weeks ago and have been looking for a new one and decided I want a used one. I bought a new one a few years ago and it just cooks too hot for me and love the way the old ones cook.

I have been looking at Goodwills for a few weeks and have decided that everyone in my area is looking for used crock-pots because they are in someone cart as soon as they put them out! My next step is yard sales!

I love the OLD ones! They cook at a lower temp. The new ones meet new guidelines for cooking and cook way too hot IMO. I can leave something in my old crockpot for 8 hours or more (and leave the house) and it is fine. The newer crockpots cook in 4-5 hours and then burn.

I got my old crockpot for $4 at Goodwill seven years ago and it is still going strong! It is olive green and very retro.

I got my newer crockpot for $35 three years ago and it already has a crack in it and cooks too high. I don't even use it anymore!

So, yes, get a used one!

I have both, a new one with a timer (so I can cook on high for 4 or 6 hours or on low for 8 or 10) and a warm setting and an old one with just the high and low settings. Both work great but I can say that the old one gets just as hot as the new one (I used both last weekend as I was making 6 lbs of pork for pulled pork), they both cooked the pork perfectly. I was going to get rid of the old one but now I think I'll keep it for days I need to cook more or days I'm at home, I like the timer version for days I use the crock pot while I'm at work. I used the crock pot liner in both, worked perfectly.

My DH bought me a new one last christmas, and a few months ago the ceramic bottom fell off. I had to buy a new one, I hate the new ones.
