Need 27 points for BWV Jan Trip - (I have the points I need, thanks!)

I am new to this so please bare with me.

I want to rent enough points to reserve a BWV studio for:
Jan 9-12, or Jan 16-19 or Jan 23-26.

From what I can gather 27 points would secure a BWV standard view studio for 3 nights during those above dates. It looks like a preferred view would run 36 points. Is the preferred view really that much better? How can I check on the availability of the standard or preferred studio for the above dates?

Question: If I purchase these points from a DVC member and they make the reservation in my name can I give this as a gift? My brothers 5 year wedding anniversary is in Jan and my wife and I wanted to give this to them as an anniversary present. The last thing I want is for them to have trouble checking in!

I know that 27 points is not a lot and that most people would rather rent all their points in one lump sum.

I would possibily be interested in more points, maybe 54 (enough to two trips).

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!
