I am looking for places to eat but not your normal ones - Blue Bayou, Napa Rose, Plaza Inn, any of the character places.

My hubby wants to find other places with in the park that we might just overlook.

Out the way places, places in nooks or crannies. The secret places that most people may not find or want to try.

:yay: :tink:

My favorite "out of the way" place is White Water Snacks in the GCH.

Not in the corner, but if you haven't done Carnation Cafe it's a must in my book. For snacks, dole whips outside the tiki room. Also the Mint Julep bar (we like the French Market too).

My favorite is the French Market in New Orleans Square. It is basically a "quick serve" eatery, but a full meal, good food, and plenty of seating...plus they have sweet tea!

OOHH...French Market has sweet tea?? Anywhere else on property that has sweet tea?
I see you are also from Santa Cruz!:thumbsup2

We like the Troubadour Tavern. They serve loaded baked potatoes and bratwurst. I did a Culinary Quest DIS blog on it about a year ago. This small counter service location is in the Princess Fantasy Faire area, just to the left of Small World. I hope it hasn't changed too much since we last visited it, because we really liked it.

We really liked La Brea Express in DTD. I don't see it mentioned here a lot. They have the BEST bread bowl soup we've ever had, and we found the price pretty reasonable too.

The Dobies favorite places are La Brea Cafe in DTD and Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square. We also love Whitewater Snacks. I, personally, love Carnation Cafe.

We really enjoy eating dinner at the PCH Grill in the PPH. It's rarely busy because it's further away.....but so worth the walk!!

I second that. We must go to WWS each trip. It is always quiet and relaxing there. We like the chicken sandwhich. I also like the potato place that Tony mentioned. I suggest checking out all of his blogs because he reviewed some places that are somewhat off the beaten path.

I agree with French Market and Troubador Tavern. Loved the plantation chicken at FM and the broccoli and cheese potato at TT -and they were huge serves.

Uva Bar... It is in Downtown Disney and it's not really hidden away in a corner, in fact it's the exact opposite, it is right in the middle of Downtown Disney, but since they call themselves a "Bar", you don't see many families eating there. Actually, you don't see anyone eating there! :confused3 It's a great place if you like to people watch, as long as you don't mind being watched yourself. It's basically the bar area for the fancy restaurant Catal. While Catal and Uva Bar share the same kitchen (chefs), you don't have to get dressed up, you eat outside, and the menu items are more fun (burgers, sandwiches, pasta dishes) but less elegant (expensive)! :thumbsup2

Haven't found Sweet Tea anywhere else yet...My other favorite for a quick snack/light meal on the run is Bengal BBQ right across from Jungle Cruise. Cant go wrong with meat on a stick!

Outside the park, just had breakfast last week at Catal in Downtown Disney. Not uber cheap, but a great meal and was casual for breakfast. La Brea Express has gone significantly down hill over the last year in my opinion. That was my "go to" on our way in the park.

thanks for all the input. we have been to DL before but we want to try new things this trip. The potatoe bar sounds great. We are staying at GCH so we will go to WWS. :dance3:

The Chicken Fusilli at Redd Rocketts Pizza Port in Tomorrowland is a favorite among the regular guests at Disneyland. They also have the best variety of Pizza, and a number of salads, as well as a couple of other pasta dishes. Good place for family dining.

I am not a lobster fan, but I have heard that the lobster nachos at the bar above Ariels Grotto are incredible, add a drink and a World of Color show from the bar at 8:00 pm and it might make for a great evening and something different. ( you might have to arrive by 7:00ish though...:confused3

Off site you could try Luigi's on Harbor or the Anaheim White House (Italian) on South Anaheim Boulevard.

Have you done this? This peaks my interest. I'd much rather watch WOC from the Cove than brave the masses.

AustinTink I have not done this yet, we tried to get a table at the bar last November and they were already full at 7:45 (8:00 WOC show), but I have heard it is a nice experience. Maybe next year we will get a chance.
