Nearby beaches

We would like to drive out to the ocean while we are in Orlando. Can anyone recommend a beach ? Please include how long it would take to get there. Thanks!

Clearwater Beach is about 90 minutes.

Cocoa Beach is about an hour away and you can go to Ron Jon Surf Shop while over there. It is down the street from Patricks Air Force Base.

The best beach we went to last trip was the beach pool at Portofino Bay. It was a one minute walk from our room .

We plan our trips so that we can spend the last few days decompressing at the beach after the busy pace of the parks. After HRH, we'll be heading to Clearwater Beach. We did that after WDW and fell in love with the plan. I thought it was farther than 90 min, but I've forgotten.

Cocoa is the closest beach. Convenient to get to from Orlando.

Is New Smyrna Beach or Daytona Beach closer to Orlando? I can't remember.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson Hotel at St Pete's Beach - lovely golden sand and a wonderful beach bar. Didn't have to move from the sun lounger- the guys just refilled!!
