Near death experience on the Matterhorn

I ride with DBF every time. We like it. :) I get to sit back on him and we just let it throw us around. LOL The girls ride together too, and together they might be about 90 lbs, I've NEVER been worried about them flying out. Of course they do as instructed and keep their hands inside the vehicle. And each rider has their own seat belt, which has been checked very well by the CM's every time I've ridden. :)

i'm really confused as to how OP "flew halfway out of the sled"? i only say that because all 4 of my kids have been riding matterhorn since as early as 2.5 years old (about 25 lbs.), and i've also been riding it since i was 6 years old, and have never, ever experienced anything like this.

granted, i've never stuck my hands up on the ride, and my kids haven't either, but it's really a scary thought to me that that's all it might take to be thrown from the bobsleds. i'm confused....:confused3

And for those of you who have ever ridden space mountain at WDW. . .I don't see what you are complaining about as that is the jerkiest ride inside Disney. . .

Very true and so disappointing...I spent 6 months anxiously waiting to compare Space Mountain WDW to Space Mountain DL (my favorite DL ride)only to be jerked around so bad I hurt the rest of the day (went to WDW a yr ago). Hopefully, they will have refurbed it before the next time I go..I hated it!

ITA! My two oldest ride together, and they weigh 90 lbs combined!

Bad news, they just completed the MK version of SM refurb in November, and it's no better at all. Other than a fresh coat of paint and maybe a bit of dusting, all I can tell that they did was add an Interactive game while you wait in line. And if you use FP like my family and I do, you walk right past the people in line playing the interactive game. Very, very disappointing. Not that I'd know anyway, but I'm not really sure why they did a refurb at all.
:confused3

The Matterhorn gives me a headache because it is so bumpy. It isn't the jerkiness that bothers me. Like someone said, Mulholland Madness is jerky but it isn't bumpy. I think they need to refit the seats of the Matterhorn with large cushions. I can't put my arms up because I spend the whole ride holding myself off the seat with my hands so I don't get bumped around so much. :headache:

remember, the MH was the first (numero uno) tubular steel tracked roller coaster in the world....it was built in 1959. Unless they completely rebuild the tracks with new technology systems, it will never be as smooth as the newer coasters...it has to do with the track section joints and the way in which they were joined and the smoothness of the arcs that the track sections make.
It is part of the charm and nostalgia of the ride.
As far as flying out of the cars goes, I have never had that feeling, even when I was a child...Most of the motions are side to side not up and down...
and there are strategically placed hand holds through out the cars, you think they did that for a good reason?

Kinda like the way people like old wooden coasters. It's the inconsistencies that make it fun!

Hi-

Too bad about your Matterhorn battle scar..
That is why the Matterhorn is not one of my favorite rides...I hold on to my son for dear life and my bottom is always sore after I get out of the bobsled.

90 lbs each? or combined? :confused3

LOL Oh gosh, I never saw this question. :) Well they are 10 & 13, the 13 year old is itty bitty, teeny tiny, so combined they weight about 90 lbs. Maybe a little more but not much, maybe 100 lbs but I doubt it. They are both skinny Minny's. :)
