This is my FINAL question before booking. My DH really wants a verandah and we've got room 7122 on hold with DU. I noticed that these cat 7 rooms have a Navigator's Verandah vs. a Regular Verandah. Will we miss the wide open feel of the regular one? Does it get really hot on the Navigator's Verandah? Is the privacy nice or do you prefer to open fee of the others?

Thanks a bunch,

Lissa

I think I'm in the minority, but I do not like the NV, I would rather book an ocenview (because you could see the ocean from your couch). I prefer the regular verandah, because you can sit and see the sea. With the NV you can't and I feel boxed in.

If you're just looking for the fresh air, and not looking to spend time relaxing out there then the NV would be fine.

I agree with Karen. We have had both types and we preferred the regular verandah. With the Navigator you had to be right at the rail looking out to see the ocean. With the regular, we could sit in the chairs and watch the waves rolling thru the plexiglass, and it was much nicer not to have to stand to be able to see the water.

We also have had both types and they do have there plusses and minuses. First, I noticed the smoke from our smoking neighbors more on the open verandah then the NV. However, that could have been other factors like wind, the amount of smoking, etc. Second, we spent more time on the NV then we did the open verandah. I can't really say why. It could have been that was our first cruise. Third, I was actually hotter on the open verandah. It did not seem we got as much shade. I am a big shade person.

That being said - I could be convinced to go either way, but I did like the NV. My boyfriend perfers the open verandah.

We loved the Navigator's Verandah (haven't had an open verandah yet). I enjoy sitting outside in the morning in my PJ's to enjoy my tea, and I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing that with an open verandah. Also, it was very windy during our cruise, and the Navigator's Verandah cut the wind tremendously so that it was very pleasant to sit outside.

While we enjoyed having the verandah, we decided that it really wasn't worth the cost to us (except maybe for the convenience of sitting outside in the PJ's, so this time we'll be back in a Cat. 10.

I like both types; even though the navigators verandah is more enclosed, it will shelter you more if there is bad weather and if you're a non-smoker, you'll have less problems if you have a smoker next door. Also, if you have children, they can't drag the furniture and climb on it at the rail because it is fixed in position on the nav verandahs.
