I just realized that National Dance Team Competiton will be in Disney Feb 3-6 - we arrive Feb 4-8. Does anyone know how this is going to affect the crowds? I checked on varsity/com and it said they would be at MGM on the 4th - we were planning on going there straight from the airport -do you think the park will be extra crowded that day? Should we avoid it - the next day they are at MGM again for competition and then on Mondy get to go to the park of their choice (we are going to MK that day..., I'm sure they will be there too!). I better book my dinner reservations, haven't done that yet! Thanks in advance for any tips, this is our first trip, and I'm already stressed out!

They will not affect the crowd level, however you will notice them because they will be everywhere and they will be in big groups. Most of the time, they will be in competition, so you won't have a problem. If they are competing at MGM, they will be in that area only and won't affect the overall crowd.

Now, if you are at the resort that they are at, you'll notice it there a lot more in the food court and pools.

We arrive on Feb. 6th so I hope they are gone when we get there :smooth: .
You should have already made your dinner ressies by now, so stop reading this and make them :banana: . Seriously I think the parks are all going to be crowded but if I know a big group is at a certain park on a day I want to go, I would just go somewhere else and then back to that park the next day :confused3 .
I'm pretty sure all of the value resorts are filled up for that time frame so you can count on plenty of crowds.

We are staying off property so I'm not worried about that. As far as the parks, I've got it all mapped out, and I want to hit AK first thing in the am, so that is why we were going to MGM the day we arrived in the early afternoon. I know I need to make the dinner reserv I just can't decide where to eat and what times, I think I'll just book them, and we will always have them just in case - it will be better than counter service if anything right? Are we better off trying to eat restaurants in the park or going to some of the properties (for example, Whispering Canyon) for dinner? One of my kids does not like characters... so we are not doing any character meals - he is ok w/them from a distance tho...(I hope!) Thanks!

DD went to competitions in years past and if this one is anything like hers the kids won't be riding the rides. DD spent all of her time either practicing or in competition. The girls worked very hard all year to make it to nationals and took it very seriously. They competed at WWoS and the Beauty and the Beast Stage at MGM.

When the kids and I were at MGM in 2003 a national jump rope championship was going on at MGM. We really didn't see much of the competitors in the park but enjoyed watching them at the B & B stage.

let me get this straight.

Feb 4-mgm
feb 5-mgm

if they are having competions on the B&B stage, can one assume the B&B show is out for those days???

yikes, no buzz, no TT, and now no B&B!? good thing we have a million other favorites! :)

Rozzie,
DD's event only used the B & B stage in the morning. They started before the park opened and finished up before lunch, so I guess they could still run B & B in the afternoon. There would have to be some work done on the stage first though since the competition had it's own flys and stuff.

ok, good - as it gets closer will they post the show times somewhere on the web (so we don't have to wait to get the Times Guide when we get to Disney) and then we can check if it will be playing? I'm also so disappointed about Buzz, but what is TT??? Thanks!
