National Rental w/ BJ discount

I guess I should have known this but... when I used the BJ's discount code, did I needed to have a BJ's coupon?

Just back from my trip and was not credited the $20 BJ's discount. Can I do anything about that now?

Also, we filled our tank before going to the airport and was still charged for a gallon of gas - $4.99.

My brother, who drove in right behind us was not charged for any gas.

Yes you must always have the coupon. That has always been the one thing they ask for. We use EA and just got back last weekend and when we handed the rep our paperwork, she asked for the coupon--which was attached to the back of the reservation. She removed it and we were credited for it. I guess this is a word of warnng. If you use a coupon or need an ID card to get that special rate, you are asked to produce it. We used National for 4 trips last year and had to turn in the coupon (both vacation club and entertainment) during every trip. Sorry you found out the hard way. The gas issue stinks too. That has never happened to us.

if you come across a coupon within a week coming back, you can call national and tell them you found your coupon and would like a refund, if you send a copy of your receipt and the coupon to them. i was told when checking in i needed the coupon, but my coupon was in my carry on that dh had and was getting the rest of are luggage, it was midnight and one worker and 5 people in line, for me to come back. the national worker said to bring it with when i return the car or mail a copy of the reciept and coupon into national. i turned the coupon into national when i turned the car in, and still had a tough time getting the $20, but was credited. i wouldnt wait to long ask if someone on the disboard has an extra coupon.

as far as the gas, do you have your receipt from filling up the tank, again i would call and dispute the charge and offer to mail a copy of the receipt showing you filled the tank up before returning the car

THank you for the advice. I will send receipt of the gas and I will get a coupon ASAP. I have a BJ's in town so I am going to assume that I can get one there.

The last car rental sheet I picked up at B.J's didn't have National coupons. They do have them in the Entertainment book though!

No.
If you used the BJ coupon code then you will need the BJ's coupon, if you used the Entertainment book coupon code, then you use that coupon.

but, that coupon code needs to match the one you used.


The gas will depend on where you filled up. If it was near WDW, you are going to be hit for a gallon on any part there of.

Also, check and make sure they did charge you. I know all the receipts give the price for gas per gallon, but, unless it is in the right hand summary of chages, they did not charge you. Not trying to be condescending, but, I have seen many people think they were charged, when indeed they did not see that it had not carried over to the right hand side of the receipt.

Gail, do you have to have a BJs card to use the coupons? (we don't have a BJs near us--the closest is 2 hours away). I could borrow one from a coworker if I need too. Hope your trip was good!

they have yet to ask me for the card. My trip was great, thank you. Just to darn short.

No, you need the BJ's coupon if that is what you listed on your reservation. They are available on BJ's site.

i got a $20 off coupon in the travel brochure at bj's, not the car rental brochure (thanks to gail's tip)
