Anyone drop there national car off at cocoa beach? Are cabs available there that morning? Or do you need to call, or make prior arrangments. The brouchures and mary's mousesavers site say they do NOT have a shuttle. How is this National site? Thanks, MKY princess:

According to Dave's DCL site (Rental Car Info)

National
National offers an on-airport location in Orlando, but their port location is seven miles away in Cocoa Beach. This location is within easy walking distance from the Hilton, and within reasonable walking distance from the Doubletree.

Unlike the other three companies, National DOES NOT offer complimentary shuttle service to the cruise terminal. You will need to factor in the cost of a taxi to/from their office. (They have a negotiated fare of $11 with a specific taxi company... call the office for details. The office phone # is 321-783-7575)

We will be using National for our upcoming cruise (Nov. 2004) and I'll be happy to update this information once we return.

We used National and were doing the land/sea trip. So we picked our car up at the airport and used it in the parks for
several days then drove to cocoa beach. My DH dropped
DD and I off at the cruise ship then he returned the car at cocoa
beach and got a cab to the ship. They have a deal worked out with a cab company and it cost $11.00. On renting a car from them for the return from the cruise to the airport, they deducted the cost of the $11.00 from the price of the car. I am not sure if they are still doing this. Note: they only deducted it from when we rented and picked up the car in cocoa beach, not the day we dropped off the car. I think the National office at cocoa beach arranged to have the cab there to pick us up at the ship but I can't remember for sure.

Hope this helps somewhat. We use National because of Emerald
club wonderful way of just walking up and getting a car at the airport , rather than standing in line for 45 like we did the first time. They don't have that service at cocoa beach but the office was so quiet you did not need it.

National is no longer deducting $11 from your rental cost, so you will need to factor in the $11 taxi costs in determining if their price is the best deal for you.
