National rates down again for end April/beg May

My National rate dropped again today, down to $129 for 8 days, EA (using Entertainment code and $40 off coupon.)

Base rate for oneweek (before taxes) was 113.36

Thanks. I cancelled my $115.74 and rebooked $97.72 for a 5 day EA intermediate rental with National for next Friday. I used the $40 internet coupon code and the AARP 6100120. Might change to $96.29 if I change to 5007125.

Wow. I'm glad I looked on here. I had previously booked ours through Hertz at our local airport for our trip to Gettysburg, but using the $40 coupon as an Emerald Club member I got it for 5 days for $89!!! The only down side is that National/Alamo at our local airport have capped the mileage for week or longer rentals. National will allow 5 days, but Alamo for 5 days is considered a week and only 1050 miles. So we are picking up the car the day we leave for Detroit, which isn't too bad. I won't complain too much though. $89 is awesome!!! And a lot better than the $212 I had with Hertz.

I am in the same boat as MommyPoppins. I am arriving on May 9 till the 15 and my rate has not dropped in fact it has went up. Is there something I am doing wrong? I want the rate shoes99 is getting

Thanks for the tip! Dropped from $121 to $113 using 5007125 plus $40 off coupon.

Went from Alamo $164 (3/7) to $157 (3/17) to National $134 (3/27) to $121 (3/30) to $113 (tonight). Still 2 weeks to go!

That is a good rate! we are leaving April 29 to May 11 and ours didn't drop today. It did drop earlier this week, but nothing more today. I check several times a day. I think my current weekly rate is $125. 113 would be nice too. I'm using 5007125 and $40 coupon. I'm paying $243 for a 13 day stay for EA.

I'm an EA member, an Entertainment member and a Mousesavers reader and I can't get any combination of codes to give me a rate lower than $214! (I currently have $189, inc. all fees & taxes w/Dollar, but would love to lower that rate).

My dates are May 13 (pick up around 1 pm) through May 21 (drop off around 7 pm.)

The $40 off code combined with 5001725 gave me $214...I can't seem to get the $40 off to work with any of the Entertainment codes---keep getting a message reading Contract 1 does not match Code 1, Contract 2 does not match Code 2 (even though I'm just entering 1 contract code!)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The $40 off coupon has to be used with the Emerald Club member contract code, which is probably why you are getting the error with the entertainment book. So it doesn't look like you can combine the entertainment book with the $40 off coupon.

I put in your info and noticed that if you drop it off around 7:00 pm you are actually being charged for two extra days, but if you put it as returning it at 1:00 pm you only get charged for one extra day.

Patience. Some of us are renting in April and some in May. Us in April seem to be seeing the lower rates right now. While mine is about 125 base rate weekly, my friend who is leaving 5 days after us on May 4 is seeing a base rate of about 150. So as your date gets closer you may see a lower rate. Just keep checking. I find that sometimes I check in the morning and no change, but check again in the late afternoon and the rate drops. No logic at all, but you gotta love it when the price keeps going down. Good luck.

I very much agree with n2mm, check every so often.

My dates are early 5/4-late 5/12, 9 days. A couple months ago I was up at close to $300, now, with EC 5007125 and $40 coupon, I am at $152. I quickly check every few days it's like a challenge, LOL.

Hmm, I'm an Emerald Club member, too, and just entered the EA contract code and the $40 off code and still got $214.

Our return flight leaves at 8:40 p.m. so that we have a whole extra day at the parks, though I know that also adds to the car rental cost.

I'm also wondering, since we're thinking of a day trip to St. Augustine, if the gas for that trip with a SUV would be $40 more than making the trip in a compact?!?!? Since the $40 only works for SUVs and minivans, I wonder if it would get used up in the fuel difference.

I just read this thread and tried the EA contract code with the $40 off and it wasn't that nice. However, when I tried the AAA contract ID the rate was about $40 dollars cheaper. I now have a midsize SUV for 8 days for $196. I previously had Dollar for $170 for an intermediate (I really prefer National). HTH

I just updated my National reservation again! Using the AAA code and the $40 EA coupon, I was able to get the cost down even lower! I now have a better grade car - preminum- for over $130 less than the large car reservation that I had at Hertz!

I updated my National ressie yesturday & saved another $30 off an already low price. Used the EA & the $40 e-coupon. We will be paying $129 for an intermediate car for 8 days. Looks good to me.
